Power consumption 5100 vs 6200 Wifi

#1 Post by xsixt » Mon Feb 19, 2018 2:19 am

Just wonder if anyone has noticed any extra battery life, in upgrading from a 5100/5300 to a 6200/6300?

Battery life difference is most likely negligible, but reception with 6x00 wifi is much better than with 5x00 cards.

I upgraded my machines to 5300 wireless cards when they were released. Those proved a big improvement. Then when the 6300 was released a year later, I jumped on those. However, there was no difference I could detect in reception or battery life. I even ran some power drain tests and could not tell. However this was half size 5300 compared to half sized 6300. One difference that was noted is that half sized 5000 series cards consumed less power than full sized 5000 series cards.
