UXGA (1600x1200) inside a 14.1 inch T61, possible?

#1 Post by jeffbaichina » Tue Mar 06, 2018 4:21 pm

Hi,

Out of curiosity, I was searching Panelook and found the following 14.1 inch LVDS screens with 1600x1200 resolution...

http://www.panelook.com/sizmodlist.php? ... ixels=7780

Does anyone have any experience with these panels on a 14.1 inch T61?

Best Regards,
Mingcong Bai

Yes, it is possible, and yes it can be done, and yes it has been done. One problem, they made about 3 screens ever. Good luck finding one. They were I believe used in 2 ~2002 or 2003 (P4M) Dell Latitude and Inspirion 4150. You won't find one and they are not very good screens when you get them for what I've read.
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

Pin 2 on SHARP LCD needs to get clipped because of different pinouts. It is a redundant ground that unless removed kills the motherboard.

Important to read what other people have done:

I found one last year on eBay, in perfect condition. Inside an Inspiron that was stored as a backup for many years in a company. Arrived with a broken screen :(

That was the only one I have ever seen since I started searching. Good luck!

Stock: 0. A few sites "look" to have it but who knows.

I'm hoping to find a/ny 4:3 T61 14.1" with native/"simple" SXGA+ 8)
Then I'd like to explore doing a (sort of FrankenPad) MoBo+CPU "swap"
2005: T30 2366-85U (XP)
2015: T43 2686-M7U
2017: T61 14.1"ws
2018: T61p 6457-V9K ¦ T60 2008-4AU & 2613-CTO ¦ T420s 4174-BB4
2017: 2 OtC MS-W7s

(WiP: :help:
~revive T30 XP-install ¦ ~T43 SATA-MOD
~sell T61ws
~Max T61p & T60-2008
~Find Ultimate "ClassicTP"
)

Why do a Frankenpad of that? T61p's came factory with 14.1" SXGA+ LCDs.

I know (or/rather have seen @ http://tp.krelay.de/)
that there are/were some 14.1" SXGA+ T61 TPs produced ...

I have also seen on eBay ...
what look like 14.1" 4:3 TPs for sale ~
some of which, according to various http://tp.krelay.de/ "Type" searches,
were purportedly SXGA+ 8)

"Why do a Frankenpad of that?"
1) afaIk ...
there were no "good"/"safe" nVidia GPU 14.1" SXGA+ T61 TPs produced;
2) I (now ~ as of two days ago / Friday) have two (2) "classic" 15" TPs:
(15" SXGA+ T43 & my new/est addition: 15.4" WUXGA T61p)

At this time I would rather have a "nice" ...
"good"/"safe" 14.1" SXGA+ T61 ~
which ... afaIk :??: requires a MoBo swap ...
and I might as well put a new/nice CPU
on a NOS "good"/"safe" MoBo :thumbs-UP:

clear ... as mud :?:
