ThinkPad T60p Corrupted BIOS- Need Help!

#1 Post by Otton_Sechter » Fri Jul 06, 2018 1:49 am

Hi Everyone!

I need help with Corrupted BIOS on T60p. I'm using Phoenix BIOS Crisis Recovery Tool, but I can't get it to work. Every site says that ThinkPad, if Pendrive is detected, should have fan's on 100% or at least Pendrive should flash light. Mine doesn't do that. What am I doing wrong?

I really appreciate any help! :(

Did you extract the uncompressed file of the BIOS to the pen drive? The pen drive must be formatted in FAT16 as well, or FAT32 if it doesn't work. You may also need to use the T60's stock BIOS file from Lenovo and not Zender's modified BIOS.

Before you power up your partially functional T60p, you need to hold down Fn+F or Fn+B or Fn+R or Fn+K or Fn+Esc till your pen drive flashes (if it has a status LED). Then you can release your fingers off the keys, it should be doing the re-flashing process. This is assuming that your T60p is not beeping at boot-up, without the pen drive inserted.

EDIT: If I am not wrong, this needs a functional battery and must be connected to the AC adapter. Additionally, I recommend waiting for at least 20 seconds while holding down the key combination.

That's assuming the BIOS is not to far corrupt. If it is too corrupt and will not let you flash BIOS, your best bet is to replace the MB. With a T500 generation or older, I still prefer to flash BIOS from a CD drive.

Okay Guys It's Back and still running. I started swapping RAM Sticks and it started to beep again and automatically started to flash a new BIOS. Even the most broken BIOS from Phoenix it could be reflashed so there is no need to replace MB.
