The 'Base System Devices' could be the Ricoh 4-in-1 multi-card reader integrated into your T61p, if I am not wrong. The Sierra Wireless MC8775 WWAN card on the other hand, seems to be installed properly but does not work somehow?

If you are using the driver Lenovo provided for the MC8775 WAN card, you could try this alternative driver and see if it works.

Did you uninstall the current driver and then install the driver I gave you? If you did, that means the card has a problem. I can not think of anything else that relates to the card not functioning software-wise at this point, there may be settings in the device manager for the WWAN card to mess around with to get it working.

If that fails too, try re-seating the WWAN card in your T61p. Or check if there is dust on the connectors, that is all I can think of.

You need to find and install the proper driver for the WWAN card. Might be difficult as the manufacturer might not support it anymore.

I don't bother with WWAN card these days as it's much simpler, cheaper and faster to simply set my smartphone to wifi hotspot and use that to connect my various tablet(s) and laptop(s) to the Internet.

Downgrased Win / to Vista (clean install). Then ran System Update (Lenovo) and Sierra woke up ... yes it is sloooow but works. No more yellow exlamation marks on Device Manager (picture: https://1drv.ms/f/s!ALS1tuLhKalPgfEr.

Future operation plan:
- disk image
- check update to Win 7
- not working --> check linux
- linux working --> make dual boot system (Win 10 & linux)
- ...

Vista installation backed up and upgraded to 7. Sierra and everything else works. For now I am very pleased.
