I'm not sure if the pin out is the same or not on each panel. But, I do know that the LCD cable on a T40 determines the panel resolution and on a T60 the resolution is determined by an EDID chip in the panel, not the cable. So at the very least a EDID chip from a T60 LCD would have to be added to the T40 panel somehow, and he LCD cable might have to be modded as well.

Well instead of fiddling around with EDID stuff, you might as well get an IPS panel for the T60 if you have the 15" version.

It's all "depends" thing. T40 will have problems, T42/T43 and especially "p" units have a high chance of working. 3 out of 4 disassembled "p" units I've bought (different times, different sources) have had EDID ID-Tech UXGA that worked in T60 straight ahead.

Moving backwards, T60 screen will fit into T43 (not to mention same LG panels used in both). T43 screen may fit T60. I don't get the point of moving T40/T41 display to anywhere - they did not offer IPS option for those models.
