Where do I put my screws?
Hello, I recently disassembled and photographed my think pad and it's screw locations. To my luck, my phone broke! I have no idea how to reassemble it now. Where do all the different screws go?

Ha, ha!
(Well, that's directed at RBS. As I'm assembling five T61's right now, I actually sympathize.)

RBS is not saying "Hmmm..." he is saying "Hardware Maintenance Manual." Which is here:

Re: Where do I put my screws?
Reminds me of an innocent naive comment I once made many years ago about laptop RAM. I saw the reference someone made to it and joked back about it being SODIMM, e.g. stupid. The magazine editor replied to my forum comment saying something like, "actually SODIMM is laptop RAM". That man has a long and esteemed career in the pro audio & broadcast industry, so that was an embarrassing moment for me! I was the one being DIMM that day!

Re: Where do I put my screws?
Having recently disassembled my T61 to replace a broken LCD mag frame and carefully taking photo's of all my steps but relying on HMM manual to cover my oversights, I can say this:E350 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 22, 2018 7:40 amRBS is not saying "Hmmm..." he is saying "Hardware Maintenance Manual." My never before disassembled T61 I bought new from IBM did not have the same screws as the HMM manual indicates.
Some of the lengths, and in one case the size, did not jibe with the manual.
If I ever do this again I'm gonna more carefully document the screw locations. And I'm not going to perform any of even the most simplest tasks after having a glass of wine.

Probably someone before you took that machine apart and 'screwed' it up wrong.
Years ago I made a diagram of the screw layout.
You remove the screws and tape them on the diagram's location.

Some people who don't know what they are doing can mess it up and you have a lawsuit on your hands. This is why you need a diagram to see what you are doing to avoid such lawsuits. if you look at the page you can see that they are there.
