T61 SSD
T61 SSD
Hello there everyone. I've been using my T61 for more than a week now and was wondering about the benefits of an SSD even with Middleton bios. I have 2 T61:
Machine 1: T7100, 4GB ram, SSD
Machine 2: T7500, 4GB ram, HDD
Both drives are sata 3 and both have Middleton. I honestly cannot see the difference in response time while using both. I even feel that the one with HDD seems snappier. Could it be the CPU? Is it worth it to use SSD?

Re: T61 SSD
Try the T9300 CPU (most bang for your buck).
There should be a real difference between HDD and SSD.
If not, your current SSD might be full or faulty or has a bad OS-installation.

Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
Re: T61 SSD
Not enough info. What SSD are you using? What OS? Do you have fresh OS installation or clone on SSD? Trim enabled? Disk less than 70% full? What figures are you getting in Crystal Disk Mark?
Re: T61 SSD
Doesn't matter much. There should be huge difference in speed anyway.
Too many thinkpads not enough time!

Re: T61 SSD
I don't know what I was drinking but it definitely is faster with SSD. I compared it side by side and it was all perception.

Re: T61 SSD
Nope not perception. A SSD vs a HDD is as fast as a bicycle vs car on the freeway assuming proper install. A car with 4 flats or stuck in traffic can be slower than a bicycle.
Re: T61 SSD
Agree. I can't get enough of the T61. I keep on finding myself in eBay searching...
