T60 fails if main battery is present

One of my T60 s suddenly went dead, while plugged into the power supply.
I unplugged it, removed the battery, plugged it back in and it started
normally. I've tried it with another battery with the same result.
Any suggestions?

Had the same, had to replace the mobo.

Hopefully these are very cheap nowadays unless looking for T60p.

If I give you the system unit serial no. can you recommend which
motherboard to buy from you?
I've looked for the 'tabook' with the details of my model
but it's not in any of the 'books' that I've found.
The cpu is T7200 but I can't tell what graphics card it has.

S/N lookup for T60 unfortunately is no longer available.
Remove the RAM, underneath you might find a small white label with the motherboard's P/N or FRU.
And if you also remove the keyboard, give us the fan P/N or FRU, so we know at least if you have Intel or ATI.
What does it say in the BIOS (only first 7 characters from SystemUnitSerialNumber) or what 7-char. TYPE on the bottom label?

I think I have some of what you've asked:
The model no. is 2007-A16, and (using 'discover')
the graphics card is "[AMD] nee ATI Mobility FireGL V5200"
