T60p crashes after boot

#1 Post by WPWoodJr » Sat Dec 15, 2018 12:13 pm

I have a T60p with LG panel running Windows 7. After a recent Windows Update it began crashing a couple of minutes after boot. It runs fine in safe mode with networking enabled. I've tried restore points with no luck, and also disabling some of the hardware - audio, fingerprint reader, Ethernet.

Are there logs or something I could check to help me debug this? Can someone help me? Thanks!

Your best bet is to back your data, find the update that caused that, rebuild Win7 and don't install that update.
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

Turn off those #$@^%&*!!! auto updates. They're the worst idea since the traffic light.

Agreed turn off auto update NOW! For more than 10 years I have been using WSUS Offline Update, which acts as a middle man and filters out any bad crap and then applies the updates, which can also be stored and used on other computers. Download here http://download.wsusoffline.net/ and if you happen to need to keep older XP machines running, use the ESR download.
