T61p 4G WWAN Modules

#1 Post by hopgarden53 » Wed Jan 16, 2019 7:43 pm

My T61p [6457-CTO(WRJ)/ Win 7/ Middleton BIOS] is working with Sierra Wireless MC8775. (see: viewtopic.php?f=29&t=126644)

Can I now throw in LTE modules (MiniPCI-E)? For example:

Sierra Wireless MC7304
Sierra Wireless MC7455
Sierra Wireless MC7710

Any suggestions?

I suppose that you could, but you would need to have the proper drivers for them.

You would also need at least 3 antennas for these LTE adapters that you mentioned, as they contain 3 antenna connectors.

...You may also need to cover Pin20 of the LTE module - if you do not need GPS, then the two WWAN antenna's (Red & Blue) from your T61p connected to the Main & Aux should be OK for LTE connection etc.
