T61p CPU Undervolt and Overclock in Linux Updated

#1 Post by DartMan68 » Thu Apr 18, 2019 1:28 am

Since I have one with the original board in and functioning properly, I'm hesitant to mess about with it too much... :help: The bug has sunk its teeth in.

I had no such qualms with the TP T500 (MTM 2242-CTO) I had last year. However, I am finding it a bit harder to do in Linux than in Windows. ThrottleStop and TPFanControl Utility are Windows-only. I may end up dual-booting Windows and Linux. :eek: :jhem:

BIOS = Middleton's T61 *(reverted due to EIST_LOCK being enabled in highsun's and locking my CPU to 1.20GHz on both cores.)
CPU = C2D T9300 *(swapped back due to having to revert to Middleton's BIOS.)

Any suggestions on what to use in Linux that will do essentially the same thing that ThrottleStop does in Windows?
I'm using Manjaro 18.0.4_stable MATE Edition Linux, btw.

*Answer = Install phc-intel, c2ctl, Thinkfan, and msr-tools. (For Pentium-M, Core, and Core2 Duo). Then run one of the scripts referenced in the Arch thread here (https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=146454&p=3) and (https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=126444). 1st = mprime-phc-setup.bash. 2nd = intel-phc-undervolt.bash.
1st = https://pastebin.com/NVwA8JEK
2nd = https://github.com/davidbosman/scripts/ ... rvolt.bash

*(For 3rd-gen. i3/5/7 and later, use linux-intel-undervolt, intel-undervolt, or iuvolt.

I have explored this way, but the options for Penryn cpus are basically limited to phc kernel. You can find some info on linux phc website.
