Modified 15" T60 screen cable/inverter for LED screen
Hello all:
I'm building a Frankenpad T601 and have all of the parts in place to do it, minus one thing. I managed to snag a Boe-Hydis HV150UX2-100 (LED AFFS display) that can work in the T60...the problem is you need a modified cable and inverter for it to work. I have the correct cable and inverter for the mod, and I know fellow Forum member RealBlackStuff does these modifications through his website, but he's in the process of moving and won't be able to perform the mod until July. If I have to wait that long I will gladly do so, definitely don't want to rush him during his move, but I'm wondering if anybody here would happen to have a spare cable/inverter set from a project they never finished or never used, or maybe if there's someone else here that has successfully performed the mod before. I will gladly pay a reasonable price for either option. If anyone can lead me in the right direction let me know!
Edit: Forum user python1 was able to provide me with a cable/inverter set. Thank you so much! Expect some results soon!

Sounds very interesting. Sadly, I have neither of those, but I hope you'll share everything with us once it's done, Sebileis.

Honestly just looked on eBay until a good deal came up. You may also have some success with AliExpress.

Re: Modified 15" T60 screen cable/inverter for LED screen
I will be really interested in the follow up on this project too. Like how difficult was the mod to perform, things you should be careful with, any suggestions, possible mistakes etc. Hope it will work out, LEDs have a longer lifespan compared to ccfl, and they also don't turn yellow over time.
And I bet the new panel will consume a lot less power too. When I measured my SXGA+ flexview in my T60, with the factory ccfl bulb there was about 5 watts difference in power consumption between max. and min. brightness, which is just insane. That means that the backlight alone consumes way more than 5 watts (as obviously on min brightness it still consumes quite a lot being a ccfl).

Re: Modified 15" T60 screen cable/inverter for LED screen
Hi Gang.
I have built four of these T601 Frankenpads (sold three, kept one for personal use). The mod is easy to do (as long as you have RBS's excellent modified cable/inverter.)
I still have two extra complete sets of new Boe-Hydis HV150UX2-100 LED panels and converted cables & inverters, one set of which I could probably part with (as Ajkula66 likes to say, "For Silly Old Cash" )
I'm a bit reluctant to sell the cable & inverter separately, since the panel is useless for a T601 Frankenpad build without the converted cable/inverter.
If you have a need for both screen & converted cable/inverter, drop me a PM.
Regards.
Dave

I posted a video documenting the upgrade process on YouTube. Wow what a surprise, I had no idea that you were that Sebi from Youtube. I have been a subsriber of yours for quite some time. As soon as I finish work I will check that video out. I haven't been this excited for a Youtube vid for quite some time lol.sebileis wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2019 11:57 pmI posted a video documenting the upgrade process on YouTube. For anyone interested: The Boardroom is open again (this time in Ireland) to take your inverter and LCD-cable LED-mod orders.
And thank you sebileis for mentioning me and my website in your Youtube videos for making a FrankenPad T601F.

Oh nice, looks like I will finally have the excuse to buy a kit from you, as due to prohibitive postage prices previously I just decided not to do it (I live in the UK). But now we are pretty much neighbours haha.RealBlackStuff wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2019 1:51 amFor anyone interested: The Boardroom is open again (this time in Ireland) to take your inverter and LCD-cable LED-mod orders.

Even though I have two LED modded T60s, I want to put my Hydis factory LED panel to use too.
I am on a long holiday right now, but will be in touch with you sometimes in the second half of October.
