Now I can confirm it really does exist - revised T61p motherboard!
Now I can confirm it really does exist - revised T61p motherboard!
I was hunting for parts for my T61p project as well as for some extras for another user here. Chassis, heatsink, LCD cable and inverter were actually what I needed.
I was able to get a "damaged" 16:10 unit with poor plastics, production date of February '08 and reasonable specs (2gigs of RAM, WUXGA, T7700). The damage was pretty unusual - the system won't load and won't install. Oh well, worst case I'm with parts that would easily cover the cost.
It turned out the HDD was bad; and that's it. I got the system for parts only, and the plastics were in a really poor shape - and so the next action planned was to test it, and then dismantle it to pieces. Hence I middletoned the mobo, heavily tested it and loaded mercilessly both CPU and GPU. While CPU was running hot as expected, the GPU was running unusually cool (stock voltages!).
I have disassembled the system, and while every plastic was in really bad shape, huge play on hinges and the lid was just as ugly as a backside of the fridge the internals were licked clean. Really.
I have quickly removed the heatsink only to find the chip date code of... 1210!
I have now had more than 100 T61ps in my hands, and it's first ever revised 16:10 T61p board I have seen.

Re: Now I can confirm it really does exist - revised T61p motherboard!
nVidia adressed the problem on February '08. Systems with production date of 08/05 (systems, not nVidia chips) were more likely to wield a "fixed" nVidia chip with production date post-February. Lottery.
