T61p does not accept T60p / SHARP displays?
T61p does not accept T60p / SHARP displays?
Have some troubles running a T61p with different displays - just wanted to ask for some info.
T60p + T60p cable / inverter does not work with T61p (oh well, no big deal)
lq154m1lw02 SHARP WUXGA that actually should work well with this system does not work in it as well when plugged with T61p inverter and cable. Some mod needed or simply another inverter/cable set?

Re: T61p does not accept T60p / SHARP displays?
Any T60/T61 LCD-cable works with any T60/T61 motherboard and screen, regardless of size.
15.4" Sharp WUXGA fits in any 15.4" T60/T61/T500/W500/R500, with any of their WSXGA+/WUXGA inverters.
Any T500/W500/R500 LCD cable also accommodates that Sharp screen.
Some XGA/WXGA inverters also work, but they might run hot.
I have done all of the above without any problems.
The T60 15" cables in the HMM are wrong (or cannot be found anywhere).
- the correct 15" T60/p LCD-cable with Bluetooth has P/N: 91P6970, without Bluetooth: 91P6950
- the correct 15" R60/R61 LCD-cable has P/N: 93P4297. AFAIK all have Bluetooth
These inverters all work with UXGA/WUXGA:
- 42T0078 / 42T0079 made by Hitachi, also has marking INVC753
- 41W1012 / 39T5658 made by Hitachi, also has marking INVC753
- 13R1014 / 13R1015 made by Sumida

Re: T61p does not accept T60p / SHARP displays?
Weirdo. I have swapped whole lids (apart from testing SHARP screen).
Swapped LCD to Z61m (SHARP), and it works great. Doesnt work with T61p no matter what inverter / cable I use.

maybe its not the cable but the GPU settings, or driver

Re: T61p does not accept T60p / SHARP displays?
In my experience with aftermarket screens some specific models behave strangely in ThinkPads.
I had one SHARP 15.4", I don't recall the exact model #, my T500 believed it to be an LED LCD and had incorrect brightness stepping as a result.
I also installed an LP154WU1-TLC1 used in Dell Alienware MX15 Area 51 gaming laptops in the T500, that LCD wound up having an incompatibility with my Windows 7 ATI graphics driver. In High Performance (ATI) graphics mode, running in a non-native resolution (not 1920x1200, not 1680x1050, and not 1280x800) would result in a black screen. In Energy Saving (Intel) graphics mode, no problems manifested. I had two of these screens and put each in Intel GFX only laptops so no functionality was lost by using them.
Lastly I tried two 15.4" WUXGA LCDs in my Z60m. The same SHARP LCD from before would not power on at all. An LP154WU1-TLA2, glossy, would not run at its native resolution in Windows. 1600x1200 worked, 1680x1050 worked, but not 1920x1200. Strangely in Ubuntu i would run at 1920x1200 just fine, but I'm a Windows person and dislike what I see as Ubuntu's efforts to emulate Windows 10. I ended up putting a 1680x1050 back in, same as the original spec.

Re: T61p does not accept T60p / SHARP displays?
Have you tried it with 15,4" T61p? I can't make any of other displays work properly on those machines (tried with 3 different mobos); UXGA from T60p is reckoned at 800x600 and gives weirdos at start; T60p WSXGA+ and SHARPS do not power on at all. Both T60p displays are inside their lids, so with stock inverters and cables.RealBlackStuff wrote: ↑Sat Jun 22, 2019 7:15 amAny T60/T61 LCD-cable works with any T60/T61 motherboard and screen, regardless of size.

Nah, I don't think so. They should power on to consider drivers.
That's the typical issue of the display I tried, but is a known one.

Re: T61p does not accept T60p / SHARP displays?
Yes, I have updated several 15.4" T61p with Sharp LQ154M1LW2A and one of the inverters as I mentioned above.
All my Sharp screens were factory-refurbished ones for Dell 800 series, and all worked perfectly, looking like new.
Just needed to remove the attached Dell-inverters from the rear and cut off the mounting tabs.

I need to take a careful look on the inverter / cable then!RealBlackStuff wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2019 2:54 amYes, I have updated several 15.4" T61p with Sharp LQ154M1LW2A and one of the inverters as I mentioned above.

In Z61m this screen is tremendous, it would be a great shame not to put one into T61p.
