T60 no left click on trackpad or keyboard

hi hope you guys can help me

i bought a T60 to restore on ebay and installed windows xp on it

when i go into windows the left mouse button does not work not does the left mouse button on the keyboard

I have tried reseated the keyboard and and the trackpad

in bios its at 2.13

i set the settings as

trackpoint: automatic
touchpad: automatic

fn key lock: disabled
thinkpad numlock: independent

when i go to windows the left click does not work i can swap the mouse buttons around in settings in windows and get the right mouse button to work as the left button

the thinkpad is a t60 with 14 inch screen and the ati x1300

When you swapped the buttons, to make the left work with a right click, did the reverse happen? It sounds like the left button is faulty. It is the most commonly used button, and I have seen them fail. I have had to swap them as you did, to be able to continue to use it.

hi thanks for the help the left mouse button is not working on the keyboard either, when i swapped them around the left mouse button did not still work the right button worked though as the left button.

in the drivers section its saying the manufacturer is microsoft and the driver is from 2001

i have installed the thinkpad exes from this link for windows xp

as well as installed this

but for some reason I cannot update the drivers

Try disconnecting the touchpad. If the trackpoint left button starts working, it means the touchpad is faulty.

thanks that fixed it

looks like it is the touchpad that is faulty
