Hello.

Today I was looking at fingerprint reader from broken palmrest and I thought: What will happen when I connect it to my PC USB port?

Fast soldering and prototype was done. While connecting it I saw info about configuring new device - Now we know what's going on!

Does this mean that the fingerprint reader is functional when you plug it in the USB?

Why wouldn't it be? That's the nice thing about USB - standard pin-out with relatively few wires.
