Oops, i did it again. T60 on the way home

Hi guys, after the T440p i've placed a bid on a T60 on ebay for 20€+shipping, and guess what? I won!
But the laptop comes without many parts, no hdd, no dvd drive, no battery. I want to buy cheap parts to upgrade and probably sell it. How much can i ask for a full upgraded one? Like, 4Gb ram, T7200, 120Gb SSD, upgraded heatsink+fan and maybe ultrabay for 2nd drive instead of the DVD burner?
TIA.

Hi.

Really need the 7-digit TYPE number from the laptop to determine the series it came from before a value can be assessed. Screen size & Type ( 14" vs 15", XGA vs SXGA vs UXGA). Best wait till it arrives, post some specs and link to a few pics.

If it's a standard T60 with plain old XGA, don't expect to retire on the sale....I've got 3 of them here in different configurations, and the total for the whole lot might get as high as $300 if the buyer had delusions of grandeur and had chugged down a few beers before he made the purchase :D

That being said, parts are relatively cheap for the T60-series and easily found on this forum, eBay, etc.

Post back with a few descriptors when you get the machine.

Regards.

Dave

If it's a 15" non-widescreen model, even today it's still a good starter for a T601 FrankenPad (T60 with T61 motherboard).
Add an SSD and a UXGA screen (preferably with LED-backlight) and you're talking several hundreds of Euros.

But if it's only a 14.1" non-widescreen, or a 15.4" widescreen, even with all your planned updates, they are nothing more than a glorified typewriter, hardly worth the efforts.

Thanks for the reply, part number is 2007-F42, a 4:3 model but it lacks of size. How can i check the specs from this numbers?

Check the MTM at the etop of the page and input your model number...it will then list all the original factory specs as shipped.

Got twisteroid database handy..

Code: Select all

"P014-S006-SS0561-MT0015-MD348516","ThinkPad T Series laptops","ThinkPad T60","2007","F42","ThinkPad T60 (2007-F42)","
Based on 2007-GCU: T7200(2GHz), 1GB RAM, 80GB 5400rpm HD, 14.1in 1400x1050 LCD, 64MB ATI Radeon X1300, CDRW/DVD,
Intel 802.11abg wireless, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, 6c Li-Ion, DOS license"
..well it's still 4:3 but only 14". 3Gb of RAM useable.. not that great; can still put in a mobo from T61 of the same size; but not sure if worth the effort

I've seen fully working T61-s in nice condition with German keyboards sell for EUR 60-90 on ebay.de, somehow they seem more expensive there

Search for three letters "MTM" on this page. The link is at the top, right bellow multi-coloured header. Searching there brings up http://tp.krelay.de/index.php?type=2007-F42
