T601 + Windows 7 + samsung EVO 850

FYI if anyone is using Samsung Magician . . .

To enable Rapid Mode, Samsung Magician 5.0 works, newer versions won't. But even with 5.0, it may slow things down. Today I discovered that reinstalling 5.0 after a year increased speed.

Hi jb10! It sounds interesting and intriguing, but what is rapid mode?.. I've been rocking several generations of Samsung drivers and spent some time reading Anandtech before that but I never came across it..

Update: ah I've found something on it. Seems to be some (extra?) caching implemented somewhere around.. some kind of windows driver to work with the disk? Hmm.. so does it really yield much benefit? Especially on T601 which is extremely constrained on RAM?.. I hoped the Operating System might be able to do some caching - memory constraints permitting - without help from Samsung driver?..

Thanks for the link. Rapid Mode is what it is--I happened to notice the increase in speed from reinstalling the older Samsung Magician driver (5.0).
