T61 planar compatibility

Hello guys,

I have a 15' widescreen T61 with a faulty board. Sometimes it turns on, but most times the LED lights turn on but the screen remains off, and after a few seconds, the LEDs turn off again. I have to repeat the process multiple times until I get it to boot.

Now I spotted a 42w7867 (14 inch 16:10) at a reasonable price. Considering my planar is a 42w7875, would the 42w7867 be physically compatible with my case and screen connector?

Any advice would be welcome.

The 14" sadly won't fit, you need another 15.4" T61 board. They're very different laptops.

I composed a chart for the t61 wikispaces site years ago that shows all known motherboard numbers as well as most compatible CPU chips. It's now hosted right here and the link is pinned in a topic above.

The 42w7875 is 15.4 with Intel graphics and native penryn support. This is probably the most reliable board for this size so a failure is uncommon.
