Plastic film sticking out from bottom of infrared port?

Hi all,

I recently got a T60 and noticed a thin piece of plastic sticking out from the bottom of the translucent IR port cover. The plastic is between the IR port cover and the chassis. The material reminds me those things, clear bags that you can find in the produce section of a grocery store. It seems to be part of the construction of the laptop. I was thinking about opening the entire laptop up to try to get to it and remove it, but I'd like to hear any of your thoughts first.

It's probably remnants of the thin plastic film layer that originally covered the IR port to keep it from getting scuffed. I often run into products where the film covered parts seem to have had the film applied before assembly, so when you try to peel the film off, bits of it stay stuck in between the plastic that had the film and the rest of the casing.
