T61 ExpressCard egpu behaving in a odd manner

Greetings, some time ago I have decided to purchase a expresscard egpu riser to turn my beloved T61 in a true gaming laptop. Alas this endeavor proved to be unfruitful as the egpu (although working) was performing even worse than the chip inside which obviously should be impossible as I have plugged 1050ti to the T61. At that time I have shrugged it off to something being wrong with the riser itself or conflicting drivers (as two nvidia chips plugged into one machine are known to be not that fond of each other).
As a result quite recently I decided to plug the contraption into my other T61 with Intel chip and... everything worked fine.
I highly suspect the fact that the incompatibility of the first T61 is caused by the quad mod, as (in short) performing the mod makes the mobo run faster than it is supposed to which (in theory) could cause issues with the expresscard conncection.
The other probable culprit is the driver situation, as trying to run a nvidia gpu equipped egpu in a laptop already using an nvidia chip, is known to cause massive incompatibility issues.
The obvious and easy solution to this problem would be purchasing a new mobo equipped with intel chip (the working T61 is 16:10 and the not-working is 4:3) yet I'm afraid that performing the 1066 mod would render the new mobo unusable.
Any help or advice given will be highly appreciated.
