Any good sound driver for Win 7?

Hi!
Have everything working on my T60 with ATI graphics card. Have Windows 7 Ultimate installed. Only thing that's not working properly is the sound.
At 100% volume it's ok but not very loud.
Anyone has experienced the same problem and was able to fix it with a certain driver?

Yea headphones work. The sound is good. Listening at 100% volume is ok with the headphones.
Do you know any sound drivers that will work with Windows 7? Don't know the specific soundcard but I think it's the same in all T60/T61/61p...

T60/p and T61/p have different sound cards, but I doubt a driver can fix your volume issues.
The speaker in that generation are not very good.
Some applications may allow to boost the volume beyond "100%" but that can cause distortion. Perhaps damage to the speakers too? I don't know.

Perhaps booting it to Linux via USB or a disc is worth a try and no cost. If it works normally, then a software issue may be the culprit. If it performs the same under Linux, that would point to faulty hardware somewhere, particularly since the headphones work. Used speakers on eBay are fairly inexpensive and I'd bet there's a YouTube video showing how to do it. It's an easy job in my experience.

It's always possible that the speakers are worn out/damaged due to age and/or overuse.

Yes read some where that VLC can boost the volume to 200% maby worth a try

That's good advice Never thought of that. Have some Linux Live CDs to test with. Will test that before I try out some other sound drivers. Otherwise I leave it as is. It's desent sound at 100% volume anyway.

The sound worked as it should when I tested it with a Linux Live CD.
Then found a driver that worked with my card in Windows 7 32-bit.
Problem solved!
