T60p graphic card

#1 Post by Kel Ghu » Tue Jan 10, 2006 6:35 pm

It is going to be an ATI FireGL Mobility V5200! Yoohoo!
Finally, the T serie will have some serious graphical power... IBM bless Lenovo!

Is there any info on the V5200 yet? Couldn't find anything on it anywhere, much less the mobile version.

Seeing that the V5100 is a slightly beefed-down version of the X800 Pro, V5200 should be awesome indeed. And with 256MB of RAM. Sweet!

I followed the link but didn't see a reference to the V5200. Was it removed? Does anyone else see it?

I did look at some of the 3D demo but all it says is "ATI Next Generation FireGL."

The most interesting thing about the 3D demo, IMHO, was that the keyboard surround is gloss black. Weird!

yup, can't find it anymore! in fact, no mention of the T60p anywhere. was it just a teaser? =)

i'm guessing the V5200 is the GL-ed ATI X1600? that would be very cool indeed to have! i think it's the fastest laptop graphics processor available, right?

also used on the Macbook (what a stupid name :? ) Pro.

ATI MOBILITY FireGL V5200 mentioned in T60p specs (but then again S-video out is mentioned on the T60 and we're not sure if that's for real yet either. :?)

So, I guess the delays for the delivery of the T60p are ATI's fault ?!

They just announced today the new graphics chip

http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2006/02/06 ... egl_v5200/

and T60p seems to be the first notebook using this "monster" !!
A turbo-charged X1600, me thinks.

I am sure, there will be a second power brick just to feed the graphics part in full warp mode.

I spent a good hour going through ATI's site yesterday looking for info on the V5200 with no luck. Hopefully they'll put some info up soon.

And I can just imagine how expensive the T60p with this new chip will be
A notebook newb!

Well, for right now, just imagine the *awesomeness* of it; pretty impressive if you ask me. :)

ya it seems like this one has everything you could ask for in a notebook.

for some reason though im not too fond of the keypad buttons. the left and right clicks.

One of the reasons I like the Thinkpad buttons is that they don't click too audibly; a few trips to Office Depot to try out the T43 (with a Chassis I have only seen on the new T60 :? ) and the Z60s they had one display there reassured me that they had kep, perhaps even increased, the tactile sensation of the Trackpoint and Touchpad buttons without making any clicking sounds either.

oh yes i agree, the silence of the touchpad buttons are the best in the business IMO. it seems like everything else has an annoying clickity clack. but the looks, maybe a little too straight edged. i dont know.

I've got something fairly similar to that model..

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... ry=200794u

.. and all I can say is that this thing is a missle. Runs apps blazing fast and for gaming the new FireGL made me switch to this versus my desktop.
