Has anybody already ordered T60?

#1 Post by bibo » Sun Jan 22, 2006 2:30 pm

Has anybody already ordered T60? I am interest in both T60 and Gateway M465-E but I cannot decide which one is better. Gateway looks more powerful but I heard the fan was noisy and the body was plastic.

I wish!!! I will order one as soon as it is available. Also nothing can match a Thinkpad. The Thinkpad won't feel plastic at all. There is a reason why some call the Thinkpad a Tankpad.

It only makes sense to get a Thinkpad because you are not buying a computer but the service of a machine that runs your software. That is, you should focus on the fact that you're getting the best hardware available AND the best service available.

That actually makes a great deal of sense; also, it is the direction that IBM is headed in anyway. They are now focusing more on Service+Machines(Software and Hardware) rather than the rest of the consumer computer industry that seems to love to send out pre-packaged-feel-good-plug-it-in-and-play systems with suck-it-and-see service(this refers to a deprecated process of checking whether or not a wire is live ;)).

I just check the ibm website. T60 195144U will be available within 2 weeks. Does anybody know when we can buy one that has higher configuration?

I'm not so sure I'd trust that - it said available in 2 weeks a week and a half ago and then went to "CALL" - same for the X60 and X60s models...the IBM site is...shall we say nicely...not always accurate. I might be wrong, but...I'd definately call before I'd put any stock into that number....

Good luck...

It will be the end of Feb before these systems start to ship out. CES is becoming the new Comdex; manufactures announce products because of the "event" even though GA is still a little while out.

Ordered T60 2623-DAU

#8 Post by iein » Wed Feb 01, 2006 3:43 pm

I just ordered a T60 by calling Lenovo's phone number. I inquired as if it would be better to order via web or phone. Phone will not get better priority, however you have a direct rep who can give you better product availability and queue postion.

Also, even though the lenovo web site shows 'within 2 weeks' as availability for T60, my sales rep said the site will be updated shortly to reflect a longer availiablity time. He said expect to it ship early March. I got #2 order queue postion on the 2623-dau. 1951-44u already has 75+ orders queued. Best bet to get a t60 is to get a 2623 series as there are not many orders placed at this point.

Also, you can change your order as long as it hasn't shipped AND retain queue priority, according my sales rep.

Good luck.
