Can someone give me any advice on hardware?

I am planning to buy a thinkpad T60. Here is my configuration list. Since there is only one model and I don't know when other models are available, I don't have many choices. I have 3 questions:
1. should I buy 2*1g DDR2 4200 from newegg at $162 or buy one more 512MB PC2-5300 CL5 DDR2 SDRAM at $79.90. I heard vista used a lot of memory and 1g just fulfills the system requirement.

2. Is 7200rpm hard drive much better than the 5400rpm? Is it necessary to buy a 80G seagate 7200rpm hard drive at $210? I heard vista need 7200rpm hard drive, is it true?

3. Is Extended Service Contract 4 YR depot repair 9x5 good enough? Do I have to buy the PC protection services?

Apparently, it is not a gaming machine. I would prefer better screen video card if I know when they will be available. I hope this configuration can run window vista well and run office and adobe softwares well. Can someone give me any advice on hardware? Thank you.
