This sparked my interest:

>> 256MB ATI Mobility FireGL V5200

Is that kind of card new to ThinkPad's because I don't recall seeing many Lenovo laptops with that card before...it seems pretty good for gaming and stuff too (I think?).

That makes me just a little suspicious. Seeing a T60 on EBay going for less than the same model direct from IBM/Lenovo?

But that *does* indeed sound like an awesome deal; if I had the dosh, I might have sprung for it (provided certain questions were answered to my satisfaction by the seller beforehand  )

Normally, I am very suspicious of eBay offerings, but this guy seems legit. His feedback is good, he's been on eBay for several years, and bidding is restricted to pre-approved persons only. Unless his account was hijacked, I don't think the listing is a scam.

Remember that Bill has sold ThinkPads in the past for less than what IBM/Lenovo charged... $100 off isn't suspect in my book :D

According to IBM's EPP pricing page, this model (2623DDU) that is listed on eBay is NOT a 'P', that is a T60p.

I NEVER trust 'pre-approved' bidding auctions; they're usually scams.

Buyer Beware.

Just a little FYI for all the tin-foil hat people here. The ebay price is way above the heavily discounted IBM special pricing plan. It is not in the "too good to be true" price range.

It is only 100 bucks under the full retail price, but right now IBM is running the $100 mail in rebate, so he is probably sending those in on all the laptops he is selling.

Looks legit, but just buy with a credit card if you are worried. 8)

I never meant it to sound this way, but for some of us; that can not get EPP or other discounts; then $100 for the same machine that lenovo.com sells is a savings, of well...$100!

I have purchased TP's with CC, and they did offer a discount if you used mastercard (I don't know if it applies), also if you use Amex.

My school is not listed under their "approved" universities, so I can not get it based on that either!

I can get the discount from the UK! but it will end up costing me the same as if I bought it retail from here....

Spoke to the guy to get "pre-approved". He just takes your order and calls Lenovo to order (he was up front about it-at least a 30 day wait). Makes no sense to me - to save $50 bucks 2,899.00 plus $49 shipping ($2948) Lenovo price $2999 FREE shipping w/30 day return (no questions asked) policy. I am not cutting the guy for trying to make a buck...but I would prefer to pay $50 for piece of mind...but "there is a lid for every pot."

You forgot the tax, Lenovo applies tax to their order, so that comes out to be about $289 which this guy isn't charging.

So in total it's about a $300 savings for me.

You will pay tax on it, won't you?

well, i got my T42p on eBay, it was quite a bit off the usual retail price (more than $200) - i suspect the guy might be using his student price or something. anyway, it went off well and i'm typing this on that very machine now. so i won't be afraid to buy from ebay again - generally people with good feedback are fine, but if there's something on the listing which says "sorry, my ebay e-mail isn't working so please e-mail me at xxx@xxx.com" then it's time to stay well, well, well clear :D

I got all my thinkpads on ebay , its just a matter of checking the feedback of the seller. Dont buy from some less than 10 feedback seller.
My T30 was used, but the other two T42s and the latest T60 are all brandnew.
