T60 max video with DVI

#1 Post by laughingtonto » Thu Feb 02, 2006 10:59 pm

So: I've got a Z60m now driving a digital flatscreen when it's docked (advanced mini dock has DVI connector). However, the mobility radeon x600 in these is limited to 1600x1200 through the DVI port (a limitation of the X600 mobility, not Lenovo's particular implemention).

My question: Does anyone know what the max resolution for the T60 with the ATI X1400 will be through DVI? Unlike the ATI page on the X600 mobility, I'm unable to find this detail on the X1400 mobility page.

Any pointers appreciated...

The x1400 supports Dual-link DVI, and there's no point in doing that unless it can drive resolutions beyond 2560x1600. The Advanced Mini Dock does not support Dual-link DVI (DL-DVI), so it's reasonable to deduce that the maximum resolution of the x1400 through the advanced mini dock is 2560x1600.

Just to head off any questions, Dual-link DVI (aka DL-DVI) is not the same thing as DVI-D. DL-DVI uses two transmitters to drive resolutions beyond 2560x1600. DVI-D is Digital DVI, which means that it supports only a digital signal. DVI-A is analog on the DVI connector, and DVI-I is both analog and digital on the DVI cable.
Apathy is on the rise, but nobody seems to care.
