I've got a bit more than one month of warranty left on my T40, and I've been looking for T60 reviews, but there's not a lot of information out there.

Has anyone here actually received a T60?

Looking forward to a real user review ...

I haven't seen one yet. I am eagerly waiting for a review. Many reviews.

I was thinking about getting one.

Based on the responses, I'm going to hazard a guess and say that nobody has actually gotten ahold of a T60, weeks after they appeared on Lenovo's website.

I am pretty unhappy at what appears to be a paper launch of massive dimensions

That is T60. I like the T60P. I will wait until the kinks are worked out by first buyers.

I am waiting until after the Dual Core Merom based T61ps come out to get yet another Thinkpad; I must admit though, that T60p is *extremely* tempting.

Yep, she is pertty. and I am really trying my best to hold off.

And there I was thinking that I might be able to get a good deal on a "ThinkPad T40 (2373-12U); 1.30 GHz PM; 512MB; 30GB 4.2k; R7500/XGA; 802.11a/b/g; M10 fan; XP Pro" in about 40 days.

I guess not.

Well I'm going to wait for the full in-dept NBR review (expected this week), but although the screen looks nice, the rest of the computer definitely looks "cheaper" than the pre-Lenovo models. The keyboard looks a little crooked and the touchpad looks kinda weird too....just IMO of course.

bibo - nice find! It's good to see that at least one person got a T60!

dsvochak - are you sure you want my T40? : It's been to the repair shop twice (though not in over a year) and it certainly looks a bit worn. I compare it to the Millenium Falcon from Star Wars - its great when its working, but somtimes I just cross my fingers and say "hear me baby, hold together!"

Are you using heavy fiber, chemically treated, silver titanium bonding reinforcment material? (duct tape).

Talking to the network and computer systems tech's at Harley Davidson in Milwaukee (guy is in one of my business classes at UWM), they have recieved roughly ~250 or so T60's from IBM about 3-4 weeks ago, along with many z60m's.

One thing is for sure businesses are going to have these things weeks if not months before they will ever be seen by consumers.

K. Eng--I knew about the various repairs. I was banking on IBM's legendary service having resolved everything. But if the mods include "heavy fiber, chemically treated, silver titanium bonding reinforcment material" I might think again.

No, no duct tape, but I did have to tape a piece of the left part of the keyboard bezel after it got cracked

IBM's service seems to have resolved everything... no problems in over a year. But seriously, this machine has a lot of wear. Some of the keys are worn shiny (although the keyboard feels as solid as ever) and the rubbery surface of the LCD housing is all scratched up. Still, the latches, trackpoint, hinges and other things work perfectly!

That is a testament to how well it survives; a post-doc I work with has a T40 he got just about the same time they were released...It as gone through just about everything and has no problems doing aything else that is asked of it.

I would go so far as to say that T40 almost has a personality for as long as you have used it; it certainly has acquired character.

Yup. It's pretty amazing that the hinges on my T40 still feel as solid as they did when I first opened the box almost three years ago. I know people who bought other brands of computers with plastic hinges and the panels just get really loose and creaky over time.

The T60 sounds good in the review although the graphic card and buttons are a little bit disappointed.

The graphics for me at least, more than what i expected, afterall the T43 only had gma, x300 and workstation and adding the x1400 which is similiar to x600/700 is something new for a thinkpad txx.

Yeah. Using x1400 is a great improvement in Txx. However, x1400 is not as good as I thought. Compared with x1600 which got 4157 in 3DMarks, x1400 only got 2092.

I just ordered a T60 and I'm seeing an expected ship date of 3/20/06. I know that means nothing but it seems in-line with the 2-4 weeks on their site.

I just noticed that Apple's MacBook Pro started shipping today so perhaps the Yonah's are finally arriving? not sure what the hold-up is on these T60's.

hoya...ordered mine (20075BU) yesterday and the estimated shipping date is now 3/24/06.

S'plain this though...the extra memory is not due to show until 4/16/06.

The Lenovo rep I talked to last Thursay looked into the "official" crystal ball and said delivery should be 2/25/06.

Methinks these estimates are rather rough (and way conservative)...

Of course some Z60s are taking 3+ months

And yes, if my Grandma had four wheels she would be wagon.

How do you like it?

Just curious, what are you using the FireGL graphics system for? I can't quite get a handle on why people are selecting this option other than for gaming. Is is because of the need to drive projectors or large external monitors?

FWIW, I find the T60P to be a much better performing (both process and video) unit than my T43P was. The dual cores do make a nice difference but the real kicker is the new video chip. Personally, I run it for gaming (Wow) and I notice a huge difference.

How are Heat, Noise and battery life on the T60p? for me those are the main reasons why I ordered a T60.

also, did your unit ship with an NMB keyboard? was it made in China?

the FireGL 5200 looks ridiculous, but unfortunately I can't afford to spend that much, getting one with the X1400 is already stretching my pocketbook. On the upside, i'll probably end up playing less games on this new laptop when it comes
