confusing ram options

I tried to spec out a T-60 specifically the 2623-d4u.

I tried to add RAM to the model and it had two options for an additional 512 Mb. Both were exactly the same and were priced around $10 apart.

Not only that but they were cheaper than Newegg and others!!!

I am terribly confused. Can anyone sort it out for me?

I'll second that question. I just ordered a T60 and see this on the order status page:

the $12 cheaper ram is the self install kind.

the $12 more expensive ram comes pre-installed.

i purchased a t60 with self install ram (cheaper one) and it was even cheaper than newegg. whoa!

I was told the 512MB addition was for the extra solt, so that buying one DIMM I would be able to get 1GB. It sound strange because T-series shipped from factory in the past used both slots.

Also, did you recieve your 2623D4U? How long did it take?
