Are you talking abou thte connector, to the machine or connecter at the adapter it self ?obediah wrote:IBM has sent my AC adapters for my T60 - they are 90W and have a diffrent connector than the T4X machines I've had. I don't have the actual T60 yet, though.
And can you please let me know output voltage and vattage.
(On normal thinkpads its 16V 4.5A & 130-199VA)
I'm not an engineer, but the adapter saysrpaturi wrote:Are you talking abou thte connector, to the machine or connecter at the adapter it self ?obediah wrote:IBM has sent my AC adapters for my T60 - they are 90W and have a diffrent connector than the T4X machines I've had. Code: Select all
INPUT 100-240V~
2.0A-1.0A 50-60Hz
OUTPUT 20V 4.5A
Because they needed 90W, and 16,5V is kind of low for that using the thin cable like the one that goes from the PS to the machine.
I leave the related calculation to majors in e.e, but in short using an higher voltage allows a small wire section for cable.
They changed the connector according to the voltage and are using now the standard EIAJ RC-5320A with female pin.
Ever heard a woman complaining thet she can't find high-power air-driers in the US? Because @110v, a powerful one like some sold in Europe would need a cord too tick, making it even more expensive and uneasy to handle.

T440s OK so far.
T420s NVIDIA graphics. Nice, then MB failure.
T400s Workhorse. two of'em, both faulty display with vertical stripes.
T43 °very nice° - MB reflown and dead, two of'em.
T42 15°, dead onboard wireless.
T40, dead memory slot, stolen from me
T30, stolen from me
TP600 dead
