A Review on the T60P
A Review on the T60P
I came across this review of one of the high end T60p laptops:
http://www.desktoppipeline.com/18140119 ... eed_pl_dtp
http://www.desktoppipeline.com/18140119 ... eed_pl_dtp
And I couldn't help but notice the "512MB of on-board RAM" mentioned on page 1?!?!?darrenf wrote:This is the first sighting of the V5200 that I've seen *anywhere* and the reviewer bareley mentions it!![]()
I wish that were true...

802 what?!? I Use EVDO every day and it rocks, man!

Re: A Review on the T60P
Furthermore, I don't see that laptop in the tabook. With the features Mr. Haskin describes (i.e. T2600, EVDO, Finger, etc.) that T60p HAS to have the DVDRW. And I really wanted to get a review on that drive...ajazzman wrote:I came across this review of one of the high end T60p laptops:

I'm not sure he deserves to have reviewed such a machine as the T60p!
Not a very good review IMO.

Sorry for the confusion, man. I wasn't very clear earlier.
The one David Haskin mentions in this article doesn't seem to exist. He lists T2600 combined with UXGA, EVDO and yet only a DVD/CDRW combo drive. My point was that all tabook T60p's (2007 series) that I can see with combo drives don't have the EVDO. Given that some of his other facts are OBVIOUSLY wrong (512MB V5200) I'm assuming that he's wrong about the optical drive, too. It wasn't an extinsive review and he must not have tested very thoroughly (to miss BIG specs like those). IMO.

Nope; I don't think we can prove that conclusively.own6volvos wrote:Are we sure this guy isn't on crack and reviewed a spiral notebook with info written on the looseleaf?

I wonder about the weight though. He states 5.8 pounds for T60p. That's entry for T60. T60p is 6.25 lbs according to all specs I've seen. He's half a pound off...
I wonder if he actually had a T60p at all...volvos might be right!

Looks like I've got to do all of the legwork.
From the same Tabook posted above:
EDIT: I see what you mean about the Combo drive. But wouldn't you really rather have a Multiburner (DVD burner) anyway?Tabook.pdf wrote:Mini PCI Express

Not just questionable. Out right wrong.ajazzman wrote:You guys have confirmed what I suspected about this review. Basically, it is very questionable!
And his "experience" with EVDO is ignorant. To limit EVO to 100Kbps is insane. I use EVDO on my current lappy and get over 1Mbps (close to 2 sometimes) all over DFW...and that's Sprint (which isn't supposed to be as good as Verizon).
I googled the title of this article and it wasn't top 20 or so (that I saw).
Jazzman how'd you find this article???

When EV-DO service is not available, the built-in radio falls back to older 1xRTT cellular data service, with speeds of about 100 Kbps.

I see the 500 now, but still, that is half what EVDO does regularly for me (in TX and CA) MINIMUM. 4-500Kbps was 1xRTT speeds (EVDO is next gen of CDMA).
BTW: I use http://www.bandwidthspeedtest.com and select the 1xEV test option! Range ALWAYS 1.1 - 1.8Mbps for my tests!

I'm stuck in a two-year contract (PC card and Phone) with Cingular. I only have EDGE available in my area with Cingular, yet I could get Verizon's EV-DO service if I didn't mind paying the early termination fee on (2) lines.

That stinks, man...but for a while, EDGE (GSM right?) was the shizzle. It took EVDO to clobber it (and clobber it doesGomJabbar wrote:I'm stuck in a two-year contract (PC card and Phone) with Cingular.
