Last 2 questions (Dvd Burner )

#1 Post by rpaturi » Wed Mar 01, 2006 8:37 pm

Hi - Please help me with the last 2 questions.

1: IBM site says DVD Burner for one of the models I am looking at and have multiburner as option, does this mean DVD burner can not burn CD's? What is the difference.

2: Does my T40 CDRW fit T60 ? (I have two)

These are my last questions ? To make my decision to T4X or T6X.
(I already have one -ve that my existing Power adapters wont work with T6X :(

Thanks for your help.

I'm not sure I'm understanding you question correctly, but here's what I think is the answer you're looking for:

I talked to an IBM representative and pointed out that on the web site, if you choose the customize link for a model that already comes with a DVD burner, you still get the option to get the multiburner (which is the DVD burner). He said this is just a redundancy found because the customize function uses the same template for a number of different models. So if the model already says it comes with the DVD burner standard, you don't need to select the multiburner option in the customize function on the web site. The DVD burner and the multiburner are the same thing.

On the other hand, if you're unsure and don't want to mistakenly order something different than what you want, you should just call in and do the order over the phone. The reps seem to know the different models well and can help you avoid these sorts of mistakes.

IBM used to have different types of DVD writers, so you could actually upgrade to a better one, but I think currently they only have the "DVD Multi+". If you already have an option by default, then it doesn't matter if it's still an option. (Buy a spare drive? Or for an existing ThinkPad?)

T40 and T60 are both Ultrabay Slim. So yes.
