I placed an order April 19th. My new order status was just changed. It will now ship May 29th!

!!!

By then, the prices will surely come down. I feel like I should just buy one off ebay or this forum or something. This wait is horrible!

Mine shows "OUT FOR DELIVERY" this morning, so it should be at the corporate office in Irvine, CA today! The folks at the office still have to ship it to my home in ME, but I should have it before the weekend.

I'm like a giddy schoolgirl

Thinkpad T60, 14.1in SXGA+ screen, T7200, 1GB RAM, 100GB 7200 HD, DVD+RW

Ordered on 4/20 from Lenovo.com, projected to ship 5/4.

It actually shipped UPS 2nd day 4/26, I rec'd it yesterday, 4/30 (weekend intervened with delivery). It was stuck in Louisville KY customs limbo for a few hours only (luckily).

This puppy is fast. Upgraded from a Dell Inspiron 8600, 1.4GHz Pentium M, huge difference.

First new Thinkpad for me since TP600 and a refurb TP570 about 6 years ago. Glad to be back.

I'm already a bit irritated, because when I was checking out the estimated ship was 5/2. Immediately after checkout the status page said 5/17. It's really unacceptable to me, as the t61's will be out soon (right?), and the prices on t60's are bound to drop, so if they extend my ship date again I'll be canceling immediately.

I ordered on 4/26, the estimated shipping date is 5/23, I have been wondering what makes them so slow in handling the orders, what is going on?

Ouch...Monday...

Mine currently lists the 3rd as the scheduled delivery date. Based on all the other delays and your information I'm less than optimistic I'll see it tomorrow. Hopefully our luck will reverse though. Lenovo really needs to alter their shipping procedures to avoid issues such as this. It's a waste of time for customs, Lenovo's customer service, and annoying to the consumer.

Ordered a 15.4 WSXGA widescreen 4/30 and ships 5/24. It is too long of a wait. =(

There's a good chance it'll ship prior to the listed date. when I spoke to a Lenovo rep they told me that was a "worst case scenario" date. I ordered on the 14th of April and my estimated ship date was May 10th and it actually shipped on the 29th of April. Unfortunately due to UPS and US Customs my laptop is sitting stuck in Kentucky right now. But I would think that I'd have it prior to the 10th at least.

Hopefully you have similar luck with the build and better luck with UPS.

They told me that mine is ready, but it won't ship till next week because this is the "Golden Week" in China.

I looked that up on wikipedia. No work for 7 days! Geez!!!

Lenovo actually told you that they wouldn't be working? Thats absurd, they are getting orders cancelled right and left becuase they can't deliver on time and they are on vacation?

My thinkpad actually arrived this morning! I can't wait to finish up with work tonight and get home to test it out.

And in terms of "Golden Week" this is just one of the issues that arises in a globalized world economy. You just have to be culturally sensitive in such matters. Just as Americans are not expected to work on Christmas or New Year's (or most of that time of year really) the Chinese have their own holidays.

When I was in college one of my professors who previously worked in a retail firm talked about how he, and his company, ran into some issues as they were unaware of this holiday and unable to restock on time. Just bad luck I suppose

Its great though and in time for me to play with it befor ei give it to sis.

Are these being custom built and shipped from China ?
If so, what is the meaning of 2nd day with UPS - fat chance ?

mine is custom built and shipped from china with 4 day ship by UPS

but others with similar delay reported that theirs shipped with 2nd day delivery with UPS

and there is a chance that your laptop will get held by customs at KY

ok, so I just checked my ship status again and now instead of scheduled delivery of tommorow then that changed to until further notice and now its monday the 7th

I ordered mine on April 27, which is a preconfigured model 2007c4u, with 14 in screen, but shipment still delayed to May 15. Just unbelievable. I might cancel the order if I can find a deal on other brands.

That machine was already pre-configured in the warehouse and most likely you bought it that wat too, so you'll be getting the notebook, tomorrow. Good Luck.

Perhaps, but when I sent lenovo an email Tue May 1, they told me:

The computer you have ordered is out of stock, and will be a 3-4
week wait. The RAM is in stock, however you have not requested
installation, therefore once the computer comes into stock, it will
be shipped to you immediately.

We'll see. I'll hope for the best.

Finally pulled the trigger last night on my T60p, just couldn't justify waiting until August, or so for Santa Rosa T61. Ship date looks like 5/31, hope it's sooner. Here are my specs. Lenovo quoted me 3-4 weeks (21-28 days), I received it in 11 days.
