So, if what Lenovo is telling me is true, you must've got one of the last few 15.4" WSXGA LCDs before they ran out. I guess I should've ordered a couple of days sooner. :?

Hi folks (and thanks for the fast activation),
I just placed an order for a T61, and the estimated shipping is 08/29/07 (!).

I sincerely hope that this is only because the system has not verified my credit card yet or something like that; but it's probably more likely that Lenovo has been flooded with orders because of their (admittedly awesome) Memorial Day sale.

I'm willing to wait a while for this beautiful machine, but over three month is unacceptable. Has anyone else experienced a similar ESD?

It's the same for me, I placed an order today and the estimated shipping date is 8/29/07. Right now, I really hope that it has something to do with the credit card approval because before I place the order it said ships in 1-2 weeks.

Let's keep each other posted! I think I'll call them tomorrow if the date is still up. The "estimated" 1-2 weeks are no binding commitment for Lenovo, but even so it would be a disgrace if they knew they need 6-12x longer and didn't do anything about it...

Well, the late estimated shipping date doesn't seem to have something to do with the credit card approval.. the money is already gone from my account. I tried to call Lenovo today but they are only open from Monday to Friday, looks like we have to wait until Tuesday to figure out what is going on.

Also, my oder status says "In process" and not one of the states explained at http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/orderstatus/learnmore.html
does anybody know what that means?

"In Process" is the status it will show until it ships. Lenovo does not seem to have a very helpful order status system.

My order showed "In Process" with a scheduled ship date of 5/24 until the morning of 5/25. Then it showed "In Process" with a scheduled ship date of 6/29/2007. The Lenovo rep I spoke with said that it will keep the estimated ship date until it's missed, then more time is added on. Even though they knew at least a week ahead of time that my order would not really ship on 5/24, their system doesn't handle that, and kept it the same.

For now, I'm leaving my order open. I'm frustrated with my experience so far, but I haven't found another machine that can compete with the ThinkPad yet, especially for the price I paid.

Same situation here. Somehow I knew these Memorial Day prices were too good. I would hate to lose the deal, but then, what if one waits patiently for three months and then there is something wrong with the order? I am really not sure what to do right now.

Does anybody know Lenovo's policy on canceling orders and gettting refunds? I think for now I will leave my order open and call them as soon as possible to figure out what is going on. My original idea was to have a new laptop for a trip to Europe mid July but I guess I will have to go without a laptop :(. Also, maybe a "better" T61 or T61p shows up while my order is "In process", I hope it will still be possible to cancel the order and place a new one if this happens.. but I will probably have to wait until the end of October if I order a T61p in July or so.

Since you get a full refund for sending back unopened items within 30 days, cancelation should not be a problem. And there better should not be a problem, because I can imagine that already now there are lots of disappointed people like us.

I was under the impression that the 8/29 was just a default date? Updated with a more "accurate" shipping date given after 1-2 business days?

However, it sounds like people have been stuck with an 8/29 shipping date for more than 1-2 business days, is that accurate?

Hm, that would be great and could still be in my and brnf's case. Could also be slowed by Memorial Day.

A bit off topic, but considering the laptop I originally ordered with integrated graphics was set to ship 6/1, but then the re-ordered version with dedicated graphics is set to ship 8/29.... the problem probably lies with the graphics card. For those with inflated shipping dates, which graphics solution did you choose?

I ordered one with integrated graphics, so the GPU cannot be the problem..

Me too. :(

I just checked the EDS; still the same, though probably no one is working at Lenovo USA over the weekend.

Could be that this is a holiday weekend, and all the order status posts will update on Tuesday, May, 29, after :bouncing-bird: [/b]

...and there goes my brilliant plan.

/sigh

I'm hoping to talk to them Tuesday (since I assume they'll be closed Memorial Day) and find out if the inflation is due to specific parts, or just the system itself. I will be severely disappointed if its the system... :(

Some people over at notebookreview.com say its a bug in Levono's website... hopefully that's the case.

Same story here. Ordered T61 on 5/25 and the estimated ship date is 8/29. This is not going to work for me.
Seems very deceptive for Lenovo not to publish this 3 month shipping delay on their purchase pages. While I was going through the ordering process the web site indicated a June 6 shipping date.

I plan to call them up. If this doesn't get resolved I plan to cancel. I have no intention of investing in laptop futures.

My shipping date before is 5/28. Now it is pushed back to 8/30. I will call Lenovo tomorrow to see what is up. If they have not even built my machine yet, I will cancel right on the spot.

I sincerely hope Lenovo conducted thorough testing of the T61 line before opening up for accepting orders.

For those whose shipping dates have been pushed back, please post here if you find anything from Lenovo.

I believe it is 21 days from SHIPPED date.

My Z61p shipped on February 12th, 2007. I received it about February 14th or 15th. My return privilege for full refund expired March 5th at 7 pm Eastern time.

Lenovo customer service was excellent and extended my return privilege as a special case since my machine arrived with a problem with freezing up. But this was an exception, not routine practice.

It's not looking good for me either. I ordered my system on 5/10 with an estimated ship date of 5/30 and it has yet to ship out. With one day left I wouldn't be surprised at all if I get that 8/30 ship date.

I thought waiting a month to get it was way too long. If I have to wait even 2 months to get it you can be sure that lenovo will not be hearing the end of it from me.

ordered mine yesterday with an ETA of 8/30! We'll see....

Interested in hearing how this plays out

I'm thinking of ordering a T60 today 5/29 before the sale ends but the ship dates you folks ae getting has me concerned. There are T60s available on Ebay but pricing and configuration is not as attractive as the Leveno sale. Hopefully someone can post by the end of the day as to wether your ship dates imprroved. I'll keep you posted as to how it goes on my ebay potential purchase.
Glad to be part of the group.

There appears to be a problem with shipping on the T61. This morning, I noticed, if you attempt to place an order on Lenovo's website, availability is "call**" as opposed to "1-2 weeks"

i ordered mine on May 9th and its now scheduled to ship on Aug 30th. and i also got an email this morning saying my order is delayed...

I ordered a T61 yesterday and received the same 08/30/07 ship date. Just got off the phone with Lenovo and this is an error, supposedly being worked on right now. Ship dates should be 2-3 weeks according to the rep.

Ditto. I called Lenovo and the sales rep confirmed that some T61 orders are showing ETA of Aug but that is incorrect and most orders will be fulfilled in 2-3 weeks from confirmation.

I don't believe the sales rep's at all. It's been 3 weeks since I ordered and nothing yet. The sales rep will tell you that to get your business. Other people have been waiting a little longer than I have and are just getting emails saying their orders have been delayed.

I don't think it'll take til the end of august to get your laptop but it will take a while.
