Interestingly my same configuration is $87 more now and without the Thinkpad 11a/b/g/n that I got as it is not an option at this time. I bought at the end of the Memorial Day sale. 8 days shipping - lucky configuration of parts they had on hand?

I noticed that the T61's on the notebook reviews forum that have shipped are all configured without camera. I ordered mine 5/25, with camera, and it still hasn't been shipped :(

Tim's original T61 order status message on Lenovo Blogs has been updated with information on the shipping delays.

Hi guys,

Ordered my T61 on 5/22, original estimated ship date was 6/8. Today is 6/8 and my new ESD is 6/27. Sigh.

Post your complaints
We're well aware of Lenovo Blogs, and had you read my message just above yours, you would have seen that I mentioned that additional information about the delays had been posted there.

Inciting others to overwhelm another site with complaints is not welcome here - particularly when you apparently are behind the times. Read the Rules of the Road referred to in my sig, and adhere to them.

heh, reading through the update at lenovoblogs, it seems like those who ordered post-may25th are the lucky ones. Well, at least we know why now.

I received a call today from the "executive" area at lenovo to address my concerns and issues. Once again they can not give a firm date of when the T61s will be built other than an estimate. Until parts come in the machines can't be built (see lenovoblogs.com for the information on missing parts). Right now the guestimate is June 26th

Yep, blessed are the Canadians...;) When the T70 is out, remind me to move to British Columbia before ordering.

I canceled my T61p order today... last time I ordered a Lenovo it was 3 months on the coming, with 3 extensions, and when they extended the delivery for almost another month this time... no thank you.

Love the product, hate the system. If you say 6/4, ship on 6/4 or within a couple of days.

Wonder if this is why Lenovo slipped to #4 PC manufacturer?

I'm still waiting on my T60P ordered on 4/30.

Original ship date was supposed to be 5/24.

I called on 5/24 and was told to expect an e-mail confirming shipment by 5/31.

I called on 6/5, was told that they had been waiting on the 15.4" WSXGA screens, but they were now arriving and mine should be shipped on 6/7.

Called 6/8. They said all the parts they were waiting for are now in, and it should ship by 6/18.

Makes me wonder if Lenovo really has any interest in the consumer marketplace. They either have to completely revamp their ordering process, or get out of the direct sales game and focus on serving their business and retail accounts.

You're on the same timeline as I am. Ordered 4/30, original ship date of 5/24. I was first told the 15.4" LCDs should be in by 5/26, then 6/2, then 6/10. The last date they gave me is from when I called on 6/5. They said I was on the priority list and should expect shipment by 6/13.

I think that really seems to sum it up the whole problem: You and I were both told that our 15.4" LCD's were the issue, we both called on the same day, and we both received different information on the parts supply and estimated ship dates.

I just ordered my T60p Widescreen, and the estimated shipping date is 9/16. That's nine weeks, and I have absolutely no idea why. I'm pretty sure I didn't order any parts that weren't in stock, but is there any way for me to tell? I tried to call them, but they're not open until Monday.

I placed a T60p on 5/30 through Lenovo's website, and it was shipped 6/7, but I still haven't recieved it yet.
I am so surprised that the system was shipped out so fast.
The configuration:
T7600, vista business, 15" WSXGA+, 100GB 7200rpm, 9 cell,
2GB RAM, FireGL V5250 256MB, 3 year warranty(upgraded)

I also ordered T61 w/ camera in mid-May, but it is still in process.

I was wondering if any of you, who ordered T61 with camera, actually got it shiped. Would it be possible that camera option delays shipment??

I've been using ThinkPads since 1994, mostly bought directly from IBM.com. This is my first purchase from Lenovo.com.

Ordered T61 on 5/23 (and another one on 5/25).

For the 5/23 order:
5/23 Lenovo website “estimated” 6/2.
5/23 Lenovo order confirmation said 6/8.
5/23 Lenovo online status said 6/11.
Last week, called Lenovo rep who said “late summer”.
6/12 Lenovo e-mail claiming 1-30 days, so latest date should be 7/12.
6/12 Lenovo online status says 8/2.

I haven't heard anything abut the 5/25 order but expect the same nonsense.

As I recall, IBM invented the PC manufacturing and sales business because it invented the PC. Lenovo is essentially the new name of the IBM PC Company. Lenovo is apparently un-inventing the PC business. That will look good in history books.

T60, 8743CTO

Order date: 4/30
Original ESD: 5/24
Updated ESD (5/24): 5/29
Updated ESD (5/29): 6/5
Updated ESD (6/05): 6/13
Updated ESD (6/12): 6/18

Since I was last told the LCDs should be in by 6/10, and my order should ship by 6/13, I called today to make sure it was going to go out tomorrow. Once again I was told that my machine would not be shipped on time. The CSR said they did receive enough LCDs for about half of the pending orders, and those would be shipped out, but mine was not one of them. I asked how many orders were waiting on that 15.4" WSXGA+ LCD, and was told it was 300. I'm having a hard time believing that there were 150 other orders for that LCD placed before mine on 4/30. I was assured that that was the case, and that all of those 150 that shipped were also on the "critical" list. :x

Wow... just a few hours after the Lenovo CSR told me my order would not be shipping until 6/18, I got an e-mail saying it shipped! I'm still a little skeptical until I see the UPS tracking info, but I've got my fingers crossed. It does go to show that the CSRs really have no idea what they're talking about when it comes to order status.

You actually got thru to them! I always hang up on companies who put me on hold for more than 15 minutes. In the two times I've called Lenovo Sales recently I had to disconnect.

Yes I'm impatient

Hah... my hold times were 12, 37, 10, and 23 minutes.

So it looks like Lenovo finally sent out an offical e-mail addressing the issues shipping T60's and T61's. As a consolation they're offering your choice of:
[ ] 6 Cell Battery for extended run time P/N 41U3198 - T61 / R61
[ ] AC Adapter P/N 40Y7659
[ ] Premium carrying case P/N 73P3597

It looks likes some things are happening with the delayed T61 orders. I just found this copy of an e-mail someone posted over at
http://www.lenovoblogs.com/insidethebox/?p=84. I don't know if I should take it as a good sign that I haven't received such an e-mail.. either my T61 isn't delayed (?) or I didn't call them often enough to be put on the critical list.
Dear Valued Lenovo Customer,

As you may be aware, some Lenovo Thinkpad T60 and T61 orders placed between May 9 and May 25 have been delayed, and some customers ordering these systems have received inaccurate or conflicting communications concerning estimated ship dates. We know this is unacceptable to you — and it is unacceptable to us as well. We aspire to have an ordering process that is, like our notebook PCs, second to none. We apologize.

We have been working hard to identify and resolve several problems that have contributed to these delays. We expect to have the vast majority, if not all, of the affected T60 and T61 systems built by 6/26/2007. If you do not want to wait for shipment, you may cancel your order at this time by responding to this email or, if you prefer, by calling the toll-free number listed below.

We thank you for your continued patience. As a gesture of our appreciation, please select one of the following items as a free gift after receiving your computer. Please indicate your selection by placing an X in the appropriate box, entering your original order number, and reply to our LenovoCriticalOrders team at: critical@ca.lenovo.com

[ ] AC Adapter P/N 40Y7659
[ ] Premium carrying case P/N 73P3597

[ ] Original Order Number

Your continued business and trust is important to us. We have begun a public discussion on these issues, and are offering details about the causes of these delays, on one of Lenovo’s official Blogs, “inside the box”. Hey my 15.4" T60p shipped yesterday too, just before i got the critical list email. I didn't know that I was put on the critical list because I didn't called them, but I did send two nice e-mails, perhaps somebody saw those or I just got lucky that my order was paid attention to. Anybody know what to do about that email? It says to place an X in the boxes, so do we copy over the three lines of choices and actually type a box, or do we just type an X in the quoted area or what? what about just writing out what your choice is...

Anyhow I can see my UPS status now and it looks like it's really shipped... yay!!! (btw ordered may 8th)

Oh and the UPS status says the service type is EXPRESS and expected delivery is TOMORROW? wow. if its anything close to that ill be [censored] happy...

I have UPS tracking info now, and the package is 3.9 kgs, so it seems to be the laptop. It shows "EXPEDITED" shipping, with an estimated delivery date of 6/19. My delivery address is only 10 miles or so from the UPS hub in Louisville where everyone's orders seem to get held up for customs, so I was hoping the shipping would be a little faster, but if I really receive it early next week I'll be happy. Finally, some good news! :D
