It will be interesting to see how accurate that date estimate is... I ordered my T61 on 5/28 and the estimated date remained at 8/30 but it actually shipped on 6/24. So it took about 4 weeks.

Note to all the peeps waiting out of their gord for their laptops. If you miss the initial delivery, they will attempt the next day. DUH, but if you can't make it then either and want to pick it up from the distribution center you have to call Lenovo and have them call UPS to allow for the shipment to be picked up from there. just an FYI! \

You cannot go directly to the distribution center to pick up without notice! BASTIDS! :)

I am new to the international shipping game. Is this typical or am I in for another long delay to get my T61?

Mine went through the Customs delay in Kentucky within hours... and I am now the proud holder of a brand-new T61!!! I am loving it thus far... I'm really glad I went with the 14.1", as even though its not a major drop from the 15.4" screens, the laptop is noticably smaller and slimmer.

And no problems what-so-ever with the off-center screen. In fact, I only remembered when I logged onto the forums... its a beautiful machine. :D

I hope the rest of you get yours today as well!

For US $1,449.00 + $149.00 shipping to europe. Here, this kind of laptop is out of price and nearly impossible to find. Now, I have to wait...
Yesterday, I recieved my T60p from Thinkpad World. There was an issue with first one, they offer an other one with nearly the same specifications. Laptop is a perfect brand new one. I phone IBM/Lenovo to know about warranty. Mine is coverted world wide until june 20 2010. No need to deal with mack warranty. The register my T60p in their data base. Two ours after my call, an other guy from IBM phones me to confirm warranty...

So I'am very glad ! :D I paid 1188 € for a brand new T60p with 3 year world wide warranty. Sure I will have to pay VAT later and perhaps some other import taxes but no more then 300 €. Less then 1500 €, it's the half of European price.

OK, here is the full story on my T61 order: T7500, 2GB mem, 100 GB 7200 HD, 14.1ws with camera, integrated graphics, 1GB turbo cache, D/L DVD, bluetooth, 7 cell battery.

1) ordered on May 28
2) received Lenovo email saying shipped June 23
3) UPS actually got it moving on June 25
4) at my house on June 28

So the build took about 4 weeks but shipping time was only 4 days. Verify impressed with the shipping and it was expedited by Lenovo as I only specified standard shipping.

Ordered my T61 on 5/24 and I was still waiting. After 3 missed shipping promises, I canceled my order today when I was told the computer wouldn't ship until the 3rd week in July.

Ordered 6/4/2007:
T61, T7300, 100 GB, 1GB, 15.4 WSXGA+, Vista, DVD+RW, 7 cell

Original Estimated ship date: 6/28/2007
New online estimated ship date: 7/31/2007

Called Lenovo for a shipping update on 6/29/2007, 7/2/2007, and 7/3/2007 and the response was that it would be shipped late this week.

Called today (7/5/2007) and the response was it will be shipped around mid July.

I also complained that the computer is now cheaper than it was when I ordered it. They are going to credit me the difference.

This thing better be worth the wait.

I don't understand why there are shipping problems...because I ordered my laptop today (T60P) and I will get it tomorrow or max monday.

In Toronto(Canada), there a big distribution center...so no problem in Canada.

So, I live in Québec City..there is no problem at all for my concern.

In Canada you cannot customize your thinkpad and only pre-configured systems (easily available) are there for you to choose, hence no shipping delays.

What do you mean with cannot customize in Canada ?

What other options can we choose if we are in Europe or in the US ?

In only US, you can build your own Thinkpad notebook. Your choice(from a available list) of cpu, memory, hdd, optical drive, wireless card, bluetooth or no bluetooth, WWAN or turbo memory, battery, warranty etc etc....

These are called CTO (customize to order models).

You should visit lenovo US website to see how it works.

So I finally ordered my T61, which I'm planning on having as my main computer for the next 3 years (at least.) As such, I splurged a little bit :D. Unfortunately, it looks like I'll be waiting until late August to actually get my hands on the machine.

Specs/details are as follows:

Core 2 Duo @ 2.4 GHz
Windows XP Pro
14.1 wxga screen w/ camera
Intel x3100 w/ firewire
2 x 1 GB Ram
Fingerprint reader
160 GB HDD
DVD R/W Dual-Layer burner
Intel 4965 Wireless (A/B/G/N)
7 Cell Battery
Bluetooth

I ordered the system on June 30th, and the estimated ship date is August 23rd. I'm hoping it will ship earlier than that because the 23rd is the day I have to be at college for orientation, but I guess I'll just have to play it by year.

These are called CTO (customize to order models).

You should visit lenovo US website to see how it works.
Ok, now I know what you mean :)

Looks like my "gift" battery just shipped today too.. The one nice thing about this whole situation is that I NEVER received the "gift e-mail", but I pushed and prodded my way to getting one! :)

T61p

#1285 Post by smd.smd » Wed Jul 11, 2007 3:46 pm

I ordered a T61p today (July 11, 2007) it has an estimated ship date of July 24, 2007 ( hopefully it will ship on time :-) ).

Here are the specs:

Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7300 (2.0GHz 800MHz 4MBL2)
Genuine Windows Vista Business
15.4 WUXGA TFT
NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M (256MB)
2 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM)
UltraNav (TrackPoint and TouchPad)
100GB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm
CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo 24X/24X/24X/8X Max, Ultrabay Slim
Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN
6 cell Li-Ion Battery

I would've liked ThinkPad wireless instead of Intel, but the ThinkPad wireless was only a/b/g (no n).

I ordered my T61p July 12th. It's estimated ship date is July 31st. I bet I have it in hand by then.

T61 arrived yesterday. Let me tell ya. I am very very impressed. This is a decent machine. Light, robust and powerful.

6 days from the day that I ordered to the day it was delivered.
