Just ordered a t61 this morning ESD of 9/21......
Im guessing this is because of the atheros N card I picked, has anybody else have this card/ or another ship date?

Ordered 7/17

you can call to ask why takes so long time. I don't think it is because of Atheros N

Just an update- I ordered a T61 on June 30th with the webcam and 160 GB hard drive, both of which were listed as possibly causing delays. Originally, my estimated shipping date was 8/23. I called Lenovo on 7/12 to see if it might ship earlier, and the rep I talked to said that many orders have "very conservative" estimates by default. Two days later (7/14) it was shipped, and it's now waiting for me to get home from work (7/17).

So take heart all you people with ridiculous 2-month shipping dates- it seems like Lenovo is just aiming for a worst-case scenario to avoid problems with estimated dates, and then shipping them as they become ready.

Lenovo's estimated ship date: August 23, 2007!!!
About 10 days ago, my estimated ship date was pushed back to 9/12/2007. Then magically after a few phone calls Friday, the above system shipped out yesterday. Ordered 6/17; shipped 7/17. Now I can only hope UPS gets it here in one piece :-)

With all the shipping delays of up to month or two for CTO units, how is Lenovo handling the inevitable price drops? My T61 web price dropped US$40 yesterday. However, they have not yet charged my CC. Shipping is currently scheduled for Aug 2nd.

BTW, when do they normally charge a CC .... upon shippment?

Ordered a T61 with a 4:3 14" screen (8889CTO) on July 21st and have an August 9th est. ship date.

I originally configured it with an atheros n wireless card but that generated a ship date of September 25th so instead I went for the Intel 4965 card, which I hear runs cooler anyway.

i ordered it from the American site, using an american friend's cr card. The dollar is so weak, that the price is ridiculously low!!

Yeah, but can it be shipped to Europe or do you make it be sent to your american friend so he can send it to you?

Hi,

I ordered a ThinkPad T61 (the Order Status Web page says, "Part No. 7658CT") on July 19th. Main specs are 14.1" WXGA+, C2D T7500, 1GB RAM, 100GB HDD@7200RPM. After calling them and speaking directly to a sales representative (the person whom you speak to if the customer service rep cannot answer your question), I was told on the 18th that they had gotten in new shipments of all 14.1" screens; there would be no delay at all for WXGA/WXGA+ with or without the camera.

When I first ordered, the order status Web page showed a long list of the parts of my ThinkPad, with everything in capital letters. It was the same type of list that people often post when they show what they ordered.

However, about two days ago, the list disappeared. Now I only see the header and footer of the table with one line in the body:

Code: Select all

Order #: XXXXXX
Quantity Part No. Description Est. Ship Date Item Price Line Total
    	1 7658CT CONFIGURED SYSTEM 09/04/07 $1,243.55 $1,243.55
Status: In process More info Learn more about estimated ship dates.
Does this change in the Order Status page mean anything? And what step does "Status: In process" refer to?

Thanks

as far as I could tell, "In Process" means that the laptop is waiting for parts and hasn't been built yet, takes about 1 or 2 days to build at most once all the parts are in stock, then it will move to "Shipping"

Just called Lenovo right now. My order was placed on July 19th and is set to ship on "the week of the 20th [of August]."

This is complete BS; when I called Lenovo earlier (before placing my order) I was told by two sales representatives (not the people who initially pick up the phone, but rather, the ones who are second in line) that any 14.1" (regardless of resolution) T61 would "100% arrive before the 19th." I need the laptop by the 19th, so I went ahead and placed the order.

I suppose I can just sit and hope that I was just told a worst-case scenario.

The funny thing is that my laptop configuration is almost identical to rgbcory's except that I got only 1GB (1 DIMM) RAM, the ThinkPad (Atheros) WiFi, a 6-cell battery, and the default 1-year warranty, but his laptop (ordered two days before mine) shipped on the 25th.
