I ordered a T61p 7/12. Here is the operative section of an email I just received from Lenovo...
Dear Valued Lenovo Customer,
We are emailing you with regards to your Lenovo Order for the T61 ThinkPad, part number 6457CTO or 6459CTO.
Due to supply constraints on the UWB (Ultra Wideband) Integrated Adaptor part number 42V8191, your order will be delayed until Mid September.
Has anyone received a 6457CTO or 6459CTO with UWB yet? If so, what was your order date.

Ordered a T61P (6459CTO) with 15.4 UXGA, T7500, 2GB, 100GB Disk, 9 Cell, UWB, ABGN Wireless & Bluetooth on August 2 from a quote done in mid July.
The machine shipped from China on August 11th and arrived in San Francisco on the 13th.

Shipping question:
Since Lenovo politely decided to wait more than a month to inform me that my 15.4" T61p won't ship for yet another month (for a part I didn't even want...), I have to cancel that order because of time constraints. My question is, if I order a 14" T61p sometime this week, will it really ship in 1-2 weeks? Lenovo is so full of crap they probably won't be able to tell me, so just wondering if people have experienced delays for the 14" or just the pointless UWB in the 15.4".

I recieved a "Part of your order has shipped" email on 8/11, but the order status part on the Lenovo site still says "In Processing", despite the laptop sitting here in my hands.
I also called the Lenovo sales rep number on 8/13, and the rep I talked to said he was unsure when it was going to ship, even though it had obviously already shipped on the 11th. So I think Lenovo's logistics line is a bit messy right now, so don't despair.

wow so i was jumping for joy yesterday this is my
3rd order of canceling and reordering... -_- first was about a month and a half ago, then anotehr about a month ago (they canceled both -_- although i asked for a price match of those two and then to cancel one of them) then i recently got tired of waiting for the one from a month ago and decided to reorder a new one WITHOUT that wireless usb adapater
long story short no wireless usb = 4 days process time
ordered: 8/10
shipped: 8/14
I CANT WAIT my very first thinkpad
o yah and i had a nightmare last night where my shipped date kept changing and i was goign insane!
(must be how people with delays felt
gluck with that ill be rooting for people with delays to quickly come!)

Strange UPS messages

I'm seeing some pretty weird messages on the UPS tracking page for my Thinkpad. I think I mostly know what "THE SHIPMENT IS BEING HELD BY BROKERAGE FOR REASONS BEYOND UPS' CONTROL" means, but what do "WAREHOUSE ENTRY CLEARANCE DETAILS, NECESSARY FOR CUSTOMS CLEARANCE, HAVE BEEN REQUESTED FROM THE RECEIVER", "WAREHOUSE ENTRY CLEARANCE DETAILS, NECESSARY FOR CUSTOMS CLEARANCE, HAVE BEEN REQUESTED FROM THE RECEIVER / BROKERAGE RELEASED SHIPMENT. SHIPMENT IS SUBMITTED TO CLEARING AGENCY FOR FURTHER CLEARANCE", "A SPECIAL CUSTOMS DELAY IS REQUIRED FOR THIS LIVE ENTRY", and "A SPECIAL CUSTOMS DELAY IS REQUIRED FOR THIS LIVE ENTRY / BROKERAGE RELEASED SHIPMENT. Searching Google leaves me just as confused as I was to start with. All the pages I see these on are for Lenovo shipments, but nobody seems to know what they mean. It's still showing a delivery date of Friday, but the exception notification emails I've gotten have Thursday as the rescheduled delivery date.

Now THAT is fast! I see a lot of people are getting their systems shipped out in the past day or so. Danny, our system configs are very, very similar-I ordered on 8/8 and so far mine has not shipped. I guess it will be my turn to wait for a week or so!

I received my thinkpad yesterday and I am not impressed. The computer actually runs really slow, slower than my 1.3ghz centrino Dell 8600. Why does the computer have a centrino processor? I also checked my HD size and it is 140gb total instead of the 160gb size I ordered.
BTW, the 15.4 thinppad t61p is not available for order on the Lenovo web site. I'm guessing to stop people from sending in orders...

Ok, that's not possible that it runs slower than your Dell. All of these are Centrino processors-not sure why that is a suprise. On the hard drive thing-you do realize that even a brand new, unformatted 160GB drive will not actually show up as 160GB? The reason you aren't seeing 20GB is because of that, plus there is a hidden recovery partition where the factory preload is stored. It is normal to have that bit of hard drive space used on a newer Thinkpad. Be glad you didn't get Vista-you would have even less free space.
Now as far as your slow system speed-left click on the battery maximiser gauge next to the system tray, and select High System Performance. That will make sure your processor is running at it's full speed and not being stepped down via power management. You can also get rid of Norton and go to a less resource hungry antivirus system to help speed things up a bit.
I have a T60p with a T7200 Core 2 Duo CPU (2GHz), 2GB RAM, ATI FireGL 5250, 100GB 7200RPM drive, and Windows XP Pro. It is not slow by any means-in fact, it is very, very fast. Try the things I mentioned, and maybe even do a full recovery using the Thinkvantage button to make sure you have a clean OS image.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's a customs delay. It generally doesn't take long. UPS is just blaming customs so you can't get mad at them if it takes a while.
Lenovo contacting customers concerning keeping UWB?

I HATE UPS! I just found my laptop at my front door. The tracking page shows that it was delivered over an hour ago, and signed for by my last name. I guess UPS drivers aren't above forgery.

So you wouldn't be at all annoyed if they left your thinkpad at your door in a not so nice neighborhood for anyone to steal? They didn't even try knocking. Instead they just forged my name on the pad and left.
