After waiting on the phone for an excessive period of time, i was able to talk to someone at Lenovo finally this week. The confirmed that my order of 7/22 would be shipping and was "in process" He said that he could see that it would release and month long "in process" was cleared. I would see the UPS tracking number.

I received notification that my order was pushed till 9/25. Just got the email a day after my unit was suppose to ship.

This is also the second unit I have ordered after returning a T60P that arrived with a broken keyboard, warped frame that would not sit flat and a vista wireless driver that would not work at 100%.

Defective Units, endless phone wait times no matter what option you push, Poor quality and dates being pushed.

Is it possible that they underpriced some of the units sold and are waiting till the forward pricing gets in line so they do not take a bath on the discounting offered.

t61p with uxga widescreen.

I have wasted so much time with my first order and the games have begun on the second.
same here. I returned two T61/X3100/80GB and rebook T61p and T61 with better specs on July 21st.

I got full loaded T61p WUVGA/T7500/160GB and T61WXGA+/T7300/NVM140/160GB delayed to mid Sept

cs120ban, I ordered T61p with similar config to you, WUXGA/T7500/160GB/2GB on July 22, org. est. shipped 8/23 and got delayed now to Sep 25. I also ordered an Ultrabay Slim Adapter which originally was on 8/23 and moved to 8/27 and a few hours ago, was moved to 8/29.

I thought that only WUXGA part is shortage, but from your post, the T61 with NVS card also take some time too.. hmm...

My T43p order 2 years ago was in similar situation, ordered in Apr 14 and shipped July 25...after 5-6 times of shifting estimated date.

Well, my T61p order from 8/08 had its ESD pushed from 8/27 to 9/13 today. But now, when I try to access my order status via the webpage, it is saying it is an invalid order number. The order I placed for the same exact unit on 8/20 is still showing as a valid order.

Looks like I better call Lenovo tomorrow and see what has happened with my first order.

Later on last night the order status for the first order started working again. This morning I received the dreaded 'order delayed 1 to 30 days' e-mail, but at least I know it was cancelled for some reason.

The T61p that I ordered July 26th had an estimated ship date of August 28 (today) until a couple hours ago. Now the accessories have an estimated ship date of August 30th (9 cell battery, ultrabay battery, webcam) but the laptop has an estimated ship date of September 28th.

I first ordered a T61p on July 12th but cancelled that order on July 26th when the prices fell 16%. That order had an estimated ship date of July 31st, and actually arrived on my doorstep August 13th even though I cancelled it July 26th. Lenovo took it back.

I originally ordered a Z61p WUXGA laptop on January 30th and received it February15th, but I returned it in mid-May for a full refund because it had an unsolvable electrostatic discharge problem.

I am so glad my half dozen R50p laptops are working well.

I don't believe in karma, but this order now has a bad taste. Maybe I should cancel and rebook in six months when the dust has settled and I can buy a more stable hardware and Vista unit.

I bet they canceled your first order. Try to access it through the link in your confirmation email.

Nope, they didn't-it must have been a problem with their system last night as now the link in the confirmation e-mail works fine. I may call just to double check on things.

I finally got my T61p today. Ordered on the 23rd of July. Almost canceled my order when the LCD was delayed. They would have only received stock on the LCD's on the 31st of August, but fortunately it was put on the critical list and somehow got through. Still evaluating everything.

I received one T61p 15.4" loaded (which am using) . I cancelled 3 other orders because of repeated delays and purchased Vaios. The Vaios are fine. Picked them up at the local Sony store. Lenovo's delays caused our company to even consider Vaios. Next batch are all Vaios.

Ok, a bit of an update on my situation...

My two original T61p SXGA+ orders (8/8 and 8/21) both had their shipped dates moved back. Yesterday I called Lenovo to cancel these two orders (reason in a bit) and the woman said the reason they kept getting pushed back was that the warehouse was rejecting both orders for some reason. I would have gotten it a good bit sooner if I had called in, but at the time I did not see a good reason to.

So, the reason why I cancelled those two earlier orders-earlier this week, as most of us know Lenovo came out with their Labor Day special discounts and coupons. This made my machine even cheaper than using those 'special logins' even with a better configuration. So I placed another order on 8/28 for the same system as I previously ordered, but bumped up to a T7500 processor, Windows Vista Home Premium, 1GB Turbo Memory, and a 120GB hard drive-and I still saved over $100 from my original order.

I checked my status this morning (8/31) and it has already shipped-so I should have it by next week. Honestly, I am glad my first order was rejected by the system since I now get a better configured system for a cheaper price!

Ordered a Thinkpad T61, 14.1" WS, T7500, 2GB RAM, 60GB HD, Bluetooth, Integrated Camera, WinXP Pro on 8/27/07. Original ship date was 9/13/07, but it turned out that it was shipped yesterday (8/30/07), and it should be delivered on 9/4/07.

Just to confirm, are all the delays basically for the higher-resolution screens? I ordered a standard 14.1" WS (with camera) on 8/29, estimated shipping 9/17 which sounds quite decent.

Sir, this time of year is very busy for not only lenovo but also for other computer manufacturers with back to the school season and end of holidays for some. So please be patient while lenovo strives hard to fulfill your order in time.

Sure hope my T61p comes that fast. Ordered 8/29/2007, estimated ship date of 9/17/2007. This was ordered within a day or two of this new model being released (Verizon EVDO Rev A and better graphics). I've dealt with 3 T61 orders since June (friends, family), and each time it said 3 weeks, but only took 8 days (2 day shipping chosen). I will say that new models have much shorter ship list, see my complete cut-and-paste below (is there UWB, previous orders said "42V8601 SBB NO UWB ANTENNA ", and despite presence in BIOS, device driver couldn't see UWB)

This will be my own machine, with the following customizations
1 Vista Ultimate 64 bit
2 2GB Kingston DIMMS, "KTL-TP667/2G"
1 200GB Hitachi SATA HDD (in 2nd drive bay with adapter "40Y8725")
1 Lenovo USB 2.0 Super Multi-Burner Drive "41N5565"
1 2GB SanDisk Extreme III (for ReadyBoost), will get SanDisk Ducati 4GB SD for better thruput, using HDDLED for realtime write speed status and comparisons with my slower Kingston SDHC 4GB

I ordered a T61p on 8/29, just rec'd notice yesterday (9/1) that it had shipped. I have UPS tracking numbers for both pieces in the shipment, and the notebook is scheduled for delivery 9/4.

If that turns out to be true, it will be quite a surprise. Waited (not long, compared to others, to be sure..) around 4 weeks for my T60 a few months ago.

Hmm, don't recall getting ship notice on my T61 order that arrived last week, in fact, it didn't charge on AMEX until 6 days after I had the unit. Did you get the ship notice from email from Lenovo, from the Lenovo order status URL, or from UPS Quantumview that shows stuff coming to your address?

I too ordered a 6459 on the 31st, specifically to be sure I got the Broadband antenna and card.

But checking the status, I never see that showing up.

Any reason? Can I be sure that part of the order took? Or should I just call Orders Monday/Tuesday to be sure?

Thanks!

When you use the order status URL that Lenovo emails to you, if you see the following status:

Status: Shipped on 09/02/2007

Then all you have to do is click on the "Track Shipment" button and your UPS tracking info is shown.

I just ordered a T61p WSXGA+ on 8/29. I just got a ship notification for 9/04 which is pretty good in my book. The recent sales were pretty good so I got a decent deal. Less than I paid for my current T60p,

I only hope I am not disappointed with the WSXGA+ screen. I currently have a 4:3 14" SXGA+ T60p so I know it will be heavier and bigger... but I hope the screen and video card are worth it.

Got my T61p, quite pleased. Doesn't have UWB built in though, will probably add just the daughter card at a later date.

Also noticed a bigger 90watt power supply ships with this unit, presumably to help compensate for higher power draw of the higher-end graphics subsystem.

My mother has been constantly complaining that her R50 that I bought her 3 years ago is too slow. Given that it's Birthday time and the great prices with the Lenovo sale, I thought I'd stop the nagging. She normally only uses her system for internet and maybe to copy DVDs or CDs, but I was able to get her a T61 for the probably less than one of the Lenovo 3000's or R-series.

Ordered: Sat, Sept 1 (missed the 25% on the 14" coupon)
Shipped: Wednesday Sept 5 from Hong Kong. I live in LA so it should show at my door early next week I would expect.

I don't know how Lenovo is shipping these systems so quickly with the amount of customization that one can do with each order.

Here's the detail on what I ordered:
42V8189 SBB INTEL CORE 2 DUO PRCESST7100
42V8012 VBB MS WIN VISTA HOME BASIC
42V8568 SBB MS WINVISTA HM BS32 US ENG
42V8287 SBB 15.4 WSXGA+ TFT
42X0817 SBB INT GMAX3100 GM965W
41W2063 VBB 2GB PC2-5300 667MHZ 2DIMM
42V8195 SBB KEYBOARD US ENGLISH
42V8295 SBB UN(TRACKPOINT TOUCHPAD)
42V8164 SBB 80GB HDD,5400RPM
42V8172 SBB DVD REC.8XMAXDUAL LAY UB-S
42X0805 VBB PC CARDSLOT EX CARDSLOT
41W1501 SBB INTELPRO/WL3945ABGUSCNLAAP
41W1508 SBB 6 CELL LI-ION BATTERY
41W1787 SBB CPK NORTH AMERICA

Total of $913.77 before tax and warranty. Amazing deal using EPP, 25% sale, and 10% EPP coupon overlay. I'm making her buy her own 3-year on-site warranty.

Added UWB card (didn't bother with antenna for now), works fine. Not sure if WWAN (Verizon) and UWB can coexist, part of why I'm reluctant to bother opening up the LCD to install the antenna (and I don't own any wireless USB peripherals anyhow).

Very pleased with performance of 64 bit Vista, seeing all 4GB of memory, will post Windows Experience scores soon in a more appropriate thread.

I ordered a T61P configured with the Smart Card Reader by accident (order was from a quote with the 25% off and 20% off) on Sept. 1. The original estimated ship date was for Sept. 20th.

Once I realized that I am an idiot and don't need a Smart Card Reader, I looked through a few quotes I made and whoalah, I had the SAME configured system with the express card slot. I turned that quote into an order on Sept 3rd. and that estimated ship date was for Sept. 22nd.

I called a Lenovo rep to cancel and waited on hold for 2:06:45. Yes, TWO HOURS. After the first hour, it was fun because we just wanted to see how long it would take. I used the jawbone headset and it's great. Well, Naresh from east assland said that my order (the original one) was cancelled.

Sure enough, BOTH shipped out at the same time. They will probably be on the same truck and I will not be home. I have to rely on a note to refuse the original package because I do not want to accept it and have to ship it back. What a PITA.

Any reason the shipping is "express"? There isnt even an estimated arrival time...
