I think it will ship early and you will see it within 60 hours of when it ships.

If you got 4 year ThinkPad protection, that includes FOUR year depot warranty (or onsite if you paid for onsite).

My new Thinkpad was supposed to ship on the 15th but shipped yesterday. It's a 14" t61p. UPS claims a delivery date of today, but I'm doubtful.

ordered a t61p on monday, est. ship date is 10/25
As I see from some posts here they ship earlier than the estimated date sometimes. Will the status text change from "In process" before it gets shipped or does it stay the same until then?

HELLO AGAIN: I apologize for not following up on my delivery. In short, I got the machine in 'reasonable" amount of time, though with delays. If I recall correctly it was ovr 10 days and under 20.

generally happy with machine. Frankly, since I also bought a big monitor, I now wish I had bought the 14 inch. the wide is really rather large in this day and age in reference to "portability"

Have had a few wierd things:

a) A darkened line on the right hand side of the screen. I had figured it was some tricky way to show it was night time in the time zones to the right.

b) after some 2 weeks, the THINKADVANTAGE service simply dissapeared for no particular reason. And along with it went the configuration of the fingerprint reader

c) after some 4 weeks, for no particular reason, my big fancy monitor (Viesonic 21, flat) went to Black and White. Never have figured it out.

d) hard drive filled almost instantly. I am pretty sure it was because of "automatic back ups" So on my 80GB HD with about 15GB of my own stuff, I am now left with less than 4GB of free space (I started cancelling auto backups months ago, when its kept asking me to allocate more HD space)

e) I am looking in all forums to learn where I can find the Auto back ups so I can delete some of the earlier ones to give me some space to play with. Hints??

As I say, even with these (otherwise significant) issues, I am STILL happy with my machine as compared with the increasingly retired Compaq, but I would love to have it working optimally.

Once I can back up everything of mine, I plan a clean install to see if it fixes all (well except the size of the monitor) of the problems aforementioned..

Ordered my t61p 15in system on 9/27. Order status shows estimated shipping date as 10/15 (today). Just talked to a rep on the phone and he said there is a parts shortage and my system would ship by 10/19 (15 business days from order day).

Is this typical?

Lenovo´s shpment timing isn´t accurate, they have a wide range of variation which ranges from two months (in parts shortage situations) to one week or some days ( even anticipating official estimates and dates posted), so two weeks is an average acceptable delay period to me...

I ordered my new T61p on September 29th with an estimated ship date of 10/25. For what it's worth, this is a WUXGA screen, all of which are delayed lately.

It actually shipped this past saturday, 10/13. According to my tracking information, it was actually misrouted in osaka, japan for the better part of sunday, yet this morning they attempted to deliver it. Unfortunately I'm staying with my parents while recovering from unexpected gallbladder surgery so I had to call and ask them to wait until friday to deliver it :(

Still, very speedy once it actually shipped! I had the same experience when I ordered my T42 in august of 2004. I believe I ordered on a thursday and had it in my hands on monday, with the shipment originating in hong kong.

Ordered: Sept 26th
Estimated: Oct 15th
Actual Ship: Oct 15th, 11:30 Central Time

 Wow, talk about cutting it close.

It's scheduled to deliver on Friday, 19th....
Still, I'm just glad that it's finally shipped.

I think its on time shipping some what has to do with me calling time four times to get them give a firm shipping date. I just kept harassing them, till the last guy said he'll check in with the warehouse and see what he can do....

3 more weeks added to the shipment date!!!

#1569 Post by tdzido » Tue Oct 16, 2007 1:18 pm

I just had a horrible experience with my T61 purchase. I love thinkpads and that's probably the only reason why I'd be willing to still consider lenovo, but that does not change the fact that I was treated like [censored].

Basically, what's happened is that my estimated shipping date was set for 10/9/2007. I had a business trip coming up to Chicago, which is were the laptop was supposed to be delivered. I was wondering whether I should take the old laptop with or not so I called lenovo first time two weeks before the estimated shipping date and I was told that I would get it by the end of the first week of October, which sounded great. Then I called again, in the beginning of that week when it was supposed to be delivered, just to double check and again I was assured that everything is all right and that package will be there by the end of the week.

Based on that, I decided not to take my old laptop on the business trip.

Now, the package obviously didn't come. I called to find out what happened after the weekend and they told me that they changed the estimated date by adding another 3 weeks!! The reason that the guy repeated like a machine over and over was that they are missing some part (camera in the 14 inch screen I guess). At this point, I don't care what the reason is because I was doing active follow up on my order, the last time a few days before shipping date, and nobody ever let me know that there were some potential problems with it. The person didn't want to admit that somebody screwed up on lenovo side, so I asked for information on can celling the order.

This is when I felt like a customer who means nothing to lenovo. I was transfered to sales support department, and again, I heared the same reason repeatedly from the guy I spoke with. The sales person didn't admit (again) that it is lenovo's fault, and when I tried to explain it, and at least get a little understanding on their part, he said he could only cancel the order and then he hung up on me.

I find this completely unacceptable and I am extremely disappointed with their service.

I didn't decide whether I will cancel the order or not yet, but I think I will. One thing I know is that I lost $750 because of them as I had go to out and buy a new desktop computer yesterday, I had no PC to work on :(((

etc.

I ordered it on 10/14/07 and current estimated ship date is 11/1...will keep posted!

Shipping Dates.

#1571 Post by munozsa » Wed Oct 17, 2007 4:17 pm

I ordered a T61p 15.4 widescreen laptop on 10/11 and have an estimated shipping date off 10/30. I am hoping it doesn't take anywhere near this long.

I just don't understand how a computer company like this can have this long of a wait for shipping. I have a friend that ordered a MBP the same day as I did, and his shipped 3 days after his order went through. Both were configured, so I don't see how one company has an almost 3 week wait for shipping (and from reading on here, most of the time more) while another company has a 2-3 day wait until shipping. I could understand if the demand for the thinkpads excede those of the MBP, but that is far from the truth at this moment. I have heard great things about the thinkpads, but my current experience with the ordering aspect has already left me sour.

I just hope that this laptop doesn't come close to taking as long as their estimated shipping date has stated.

ajwreinhardt,

Was yours a preconfigured T-series or a custom configured T-series? Was it a T61p or T61? Just trying to get as much info on what may be delaying some orders.

Thanks

How often do they update the Order Status page?

#1577 Post by munozsa » Fri Oct 19, 2007 3:45 pm

I was just wondering how often they update the Order Status page. I normally check 3-4 times a day to see if my order has shipped, but I'm wondering if they only update it once a day at a certain time. If anyone knows when or how often the update the page, please let me know.

Thanks

ordered T61 w/NVS 140M on10-1, saw a better deal and cancelled and re-ordered on 10-4. ESD was 10-23. Supposedly "sent to warehouse" on 10-8. Shipped on 10-18, scheduled to be delivered to my office on 10-22. That's 9 working days between order date and shipping date.

They say to allow 10 working days for the build. 10-4 was Thursday morning, probably Thursday night in China. So it seems the only wasted day was Friday the 5th. Not bad, however my employer would be all over me for wasting a day to trigger a process that might take 3 weeks.

I just ordered a 14" T61 (non-widescreen, SXGA+) and was given an estimated ship date of 1/3/08!!

As you might expect, this is not acceptable. A few weeks or even a little more, OK, I'm not in that much of a rush. But 3 months?

A couple of questions:

* I saw lots of reports in this thread and elsewhere of lengthy shipping delays from Lenovo, but that seems to have been for T61p's. Has anyone gotten this long an estimate lately on a regular T61? And did it ship sooner than estimated? How much sooner?

* I ordered this at approx. 10:30pm Pacific Time on 10/12 (2nd to last day of the sale). Did anyone else order a similar box at a similar time? If so, what was your estimated ship?

* Should I assume that the date will move up? Will I get any warning, or will it just suddenly ship?

Thanks, all!

Well, hurray! My t61p ordered on 10/03/07 now has an est ship date of 1/3/07. I generally don't deal in invective, but this is ridiculous. First, they don't get back to me for weeks regarding a credit card shipping address that was taken care of before I placed the order. I received a call on the 19th saying that it would ship on the 29th, which is a week's delay from the original ship date of the 22nd. Fine, they messed up and caused a delay, but it's only a week. I can live with that. Now, two business days later, the ship date jumps 2 months, apparently because the 9 cell battery is out of stock. Lenovo, go to hell. I've been strung along for about a month, and I don't know at this point whether to cancel my order and file a complaint with the BBB or just suck it up, redo the order with a 6 cell battery, and wait maybe 3 more weeks for what better be an amazing product. Of course, it still may not ship until the ***hole running Lenovo retires under duress.

To follow how retarded Lenovo is at customer service:

41W1508 SBB 6 CELL LI-ION BATTERY
41W1787 SBB CPK NORTH AMERICA
42V8302 SBB LANGPACK US ENGLISH

The shipping date is 11/20/07. I'm hoping I won't have to wait that long because my current machine is barely functional, but it sounds like other people have much longer delays.

Looks like the DVD Recorder might be part of the delays. If I compose an order on the Lenovo website right now, selecting the DVD Recorder yields a message that "selecting this option may delay shipment 3-4 weeks".

I ordered a 15.4 widescreen on 10/18. The original ship date was 11/20 but I got an email last night that it had shipped already. By the time it is delivered, it will be about 2 weeks from the order date. Pretty good and worth the wait.

I just got an email similar to Ed H's. My 15.4" widescreen (see specs in previous message) was supposed to ship 11/20/07, but apparently it shipped yesterday, 10/25/07, which is one week after I ordered it. So I'll get it about two weeks after ordering, which seems reasonable.

I guess Lenovo is making a big effort to lower expectations?

My order from 9/26 with shipping date estimated as 11/15 is still not shipped. I just spoke to a rep and he said that it would ship this weekend, based on info from "supplier team."

Are they usually accurate with internal shipping estimates, or are call center reps just instructed to give people like me warm-fuzzy?

SO glad I ordered the actual unit with the 6-cell!

So, fingers crossed for the 31st October shipping date!

Ordered a fairly customized T61 14.1Widescreen, XP Pro, NVidia graphics, 200gb hd, lots of RAM, bluetooth, etc., etc., on 10/8, made a small change in the order on 10/10, had a 10/29 ship date, but it shipped 10/23 and was received 10/25.
':)'

At this point, I'm just beginning to get set up, so far so good, doing all of the various windows system updates - it did surprise me that there are over a gig worth of updates to download and install. I wonder how that will affect the use of recovery CDs?

':('I was more than mildly annoyed to find a '60 day trial' version of Office 2007 installed - I had specified no productivity software because I'm migrating a system with Office 2003 and everything else I need with PC Mover and did not appreciate having to spend time removing software I won't use. Anyone have any experience/issues using PC mover to migrate apps from a desktop to a T6X?

So far, things seem to work as advertised, except I have not been able to get my Blackberry to bluetooth connect with the T61 (which I want to do to take advantage of its capability as an EVDO modem - I considered the broadband card, but since I already pay for the unlimited data on the Blackberry, I can get the ability to use it with the T61 for less than 1/3 the cost of a second unlimited data feature). :)

Thanks
