hey, when you said ahead, i assumed you meant maybe in 2 or 3 weeks, not 2 or 3 days :) Best part was that I called up Lenovo since it was originally scheduled for 4/25, and they confirmed that it was backordered, and the date was pushed back to 5/15 on the order status page.

Oh well...it kind of put me in a bind. I had decided to open the Dell e1505 I purchased at the same time and cancel the T60. I put off canceling though since I figured I would have a few days and it was no hurry. Of course a hr after I opened up the e1505 and got rid of all the Dell bloatware, I get the shipping notice :)

Anyways, ended up selling the Dell e1505 on anandtech earlier today, so now the T60 is here for good. This will be my 4th IBM...went from an IBM x30 >> IBM x31 >> IBM t40 >> IBM t60, and this isnt including the IBM t23 that IBM gave me when I co-oped for them (and also not including the IBM that I'll be getting when i start working for them fulltime in the Fall...hopefully another IBM t60 :P ). In between my IBMs, I've had 2 Dells (700m, e1505) and a 12" powerbook, and I keep returning to the IBMs. What can I say...I really love em!

Did you get a custom-built machine? I ordered mine after midnight on 4/20 through EPP. My Atheros wifi card got shipped (got express shipping, just like my returned z60m... weird). Arrives tomorrow. The laptop is still slated for 5/18. :(

I want it before next weekend, when I'll be staying home, recovering from getting my bottom two wisdom teeth extracted. Hahaha...

(Never mind. Just read your earlier post. Prebuilt machines always get shipped faster, of course.)

*sigh* I'm seriously annoyed with Lenovo now.

I ordered a 2623DDU on 3/3/2006. As of the beginning of this week it was 'scheduled to go out this week' - It has still not shipped, tomorrow (4/27/2006) is 8 weeks since I ordered my laptop.

I called them today and they said they would not have stock of the 2623DDUs for another 2 WEEKS! Making my wait time 10 weeks, and THATS assuming they actually come through this time!

Of course, every time I call them they tell me that often the laptops ship before the scheduled time - in my case, I say BS!

I already sent an angry email to Lenovo, and told one of the sales people I was displeased, however I don't know what else I can do.

Anyone else got a 2623DDU recently (or have it shipped recently)? if so, when did you order it? Also, is there anything more I can/should do?

PreZ :x

LOUISVILLE, KY, US 04/27/2006 2:57 P.M. THE RECEIVER REQUESTS UPS TO HOLD THIS SHPT AND CONTACT THEM FOR SPECIFIC INFORMATION BEFORE CUSTOMS CLEARANCE

CHEK LAP KOK, HK 04/27/2006 11:36 P.M. THE SCHEDULED FLIGHT WAS CANCELED AND CAUSED THIS DELAY DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND UPS CONTROL

HK 04/26/2006 2:11 A.M. BILLING INFORMATION RECEIVED

Dang, what does this all mean? is it currently in KY? Or is it still in HK since the flight was canceled for whatever reason.

It has a rescheduled delivery date of tomorrow, but I dont see how that is possible if the laptop is still in HK.

EDIT:

looks like the customs msg everyone gets from what i gather from the search...and I'm guessing my laptop is still in HK since there has not been any scans in Alaska, etc. 99.9% sure its not coming in tomorrow even though that is what UPS says :P

Guys, could you advise me, where to get 2623DDU or something similar fast (up to 5th of May). What is better solution - cdw, costcentral or to order something less sophisticated without ATI 5200? Thank you in advance.

I think anything without the ATI V5200 will be faster.

Though if you want it by May 5th, you're better off finding a retailer that has the model you want IN STOCK.

I don't know of a specific retailer, however I usually start with google, pricegrabber, epinions or the like, and go from here (ie. its a good way to find out what price you can get things for and who stocks what).

Agreed on, but UXGA, 9 cell and 100G/7200 are very appreciated :). I haven't succed in finding this model in stock, may be you know, where it could be?

read up a few posts, I've been waiting 8 weeks so far, and have just been told I'm going to have to wait another two, assuming they get them in stock THEN.

Your laptop should be in Kentucky. I got the same message for my 2623 D6U this past Monday. I called UPS and they said it was physically at their international hub in Louisville. When I asked why the intermediate stops in Korea and Alaska weren't listed (I ordered a 1951 44U a month ago), they said that, regardless, I would get my laptop by 10:30 Tuesday morning. Lo and behold there it was at 9:15. But that was only after it spent a day or two in Kentucky. 8)

Is that a 2007-62U? I am seriously thinking of replacing the 2007-4CU with this one even though I have not received the 4CU yet, 'cause I know I will be upgrading the memory and HD on the 4CU. lol.

my 2623DDU that i ordered on 2/28 (8 weeks and 1 day ago) still hasn't shipped. i was told by a friend who works at IBM that my laptop SHOULD be built today and that it should ship out monday. I'm not getting my hopes up. For waiting 8 weeks this system better be absolutely perfect. :(

Got my laptop in:

Ordered: 4/20/06 (with a 3-6 week wait)
Shipped: 4/23/06
Arrived: 4/29/06 (yes, on Saturday...scheduled to arrive 4/28/06, but a flight it was suppose to go on got canceled, so it got bumped to 5/1/06, but it actually arrived today 4/29/06)

Time to play with it :)

I am on the verge of canceling my order. I ordered (a 2623DDU) on March 17th and was told it should take 8-12 days. Then I was told March 7th....then March 27th.....Now May 20th. These dates are not from the website but from my sales person. His current excuse is that they don't have any 1 gig ram chips.

If I wasn't getting such a great price from EPP I would have canceled a long time ago.

MOD EDIT: Just to nip this in the bud, please be sure not to post any information regarding your EPP pricing, per forum rules.

T60P order

Ordered : 4/08/2006
Shipped Date indicated on Website: 05/26/2006 - 06/08/2006
(Kept fluctuating between those dates)

Actual Shipped Date: 04/29/2006
Called Sales Rep up and complained initially about fluctuating ship dates and response was that those can be ignored. As he predicted, it would normally take 2-3 weeks for the orders to go out depending on the kind of configuration you ordered.

Some configuration info just in case you're curious:
- T60p (2ghz DC)
- 256mb Ram
- 100 gb 7200rpm drive
- 15" Flexview
- ATI Mobility FireGL V5200 - 256 MB
- CDR-DVD combo drive

Pre-configured system?

Why is my "pre-configured" 2007 63U taking so long to ship? I ordered it on 4/20 but the estimated shipping date has been stuck at 5/10. Well, at least it doesn't keep jumping around....

Anyone have any ideas?

i'm in the same boat as you, i've just been waiting a week less than you. A friend of mine who works at IBM said mine was built the 29th so i should expect it to ship by wednesday. You are probably in the same boat, so HOPEFULLY it's just a little bit longer. Nobody should have to wait 9 weeks for a laptop though :(

Hi... I'm curious about these wild fluctuations in build/ship times. Maybe if you specify whether you bought it direct from Lenovo or from a business partner, and which country/state/whatever you're located in?

I wonder whether we can figure out some sort of pattern.

I'm actually a little confused about that as well....seeing how my order was built/shipped within 3 days, and I received it within a couple days after that whereas some have waited months.

The only difference I see between my order and theirs seems to be the video card and the screen (I have the x1300 64mb, 14.1" SXGA+).

It could also be because I ordered a TopSeller model w/o any config changes, so they may already have a stock of those built, ready to send out. I ordered directly from Lenovo through the EPP site fyi

From memory, most of the prolonged issues have been with the 15" T60p models, particularly the 2623-DDU. That said, some people already have them in their hands, even though they ordered after others who don't have them yet. There was a rumour that this had something to do with availability of the V5200, but we may never know the truth, whether it be shipping hiccups, manufacturing problems or design issues.

Ordered T60p 2623DDU plus 1 GB ram (not installed), EPP, by phone from Lenovo on 3/9/06. Was assured that the T60p would not ship before 4/5/06, as I would be out of town. For some reason the order was split???, Memory shipped on 3/18/06, first order with T60p was shipped 3/23/06, second order WITH ANOTHER 2623DDU was shipped 3/27/06. On my return on 3/30/2006, a neighbor contacted me to say they had three boxes, that UPS had dropped off. Order ONE computer, get the order split???, and get a SECOND computer. Did not even open the box, just sent it back. Lenovo had UPS pick up the returned T60p, and after tracking the return, they credited my credit card within 7 days.

Maybe the sales department was [censored] at me for canceling a Z60m the previous month. I had ordered a Z60m, and after deciding a T60p was what was really needed, I called to cancel the Z60m before it was shipped. The sales rep. was adamant that I let the computer ship and then return it within the 30 days, I said why ship the computer when I know it will be returned, he would not cancel the order. The more I thought about the DUMB idea to ship computer, I called back and talked to another rep., who agreed with me and canceled the order, it showed as being canceled the next day. Maybe these people are on some type of commission??

Charles

P.S. I have NO issues with the T60p, no excess fan noise, HDD noise...GREAT computer.

Bizarre!

Though it is not uncommon to receive parts of the order ahead of others -- I think it is easier for them to ship things that are available immediately, rather than package them together for delivery.

Strange that you got a second machine, though...

(Emphesis added). This is the most annoying thing to me. I ordered my T60p (same model, 2623DDU) on 3/3/06, and have yet to receive it (over 8 weeks now), in fact, it has yet to even be shipped. This person ordered 6 days after me, and received it in 2 weeks! WTF?

PreZ - annoyed :(

prez- you got a right to be annoyed. 8 weeks is ridiculous to wait for a laptop. But if you cancel the order now then you wasted all that wait time. You should call lenovo and demand compensation since it is taking longer than 3-6 weeks.

hope you get it soon
