Not sure how that would work from a customs point of view too... e.g. with import duty, taxes and all that.

Just checked my order status and noticed that the serial number is showing up now, which means my system is completely built. I was able to look up all my parts online using that serial number, didn't get the alps or NMB keyboard, chicony for me Status still shows as "in process" but it should be shipped out here shortly!

edit: Status says "shipped". I'll be receiving it in 2 days!

Received my D7U today along with my 1gb ram ordered from Chief Value for $82 with S/H. All told it took a week for me to get the notebook as I had ordered it last Monday. Yay, new toy to play with.

hmm, mine just shipped apparently, but not the minidock, and I don't have a tracking number from UPS just yet. either way, happy day

Sounds like it. I just talked to costcentral.com and they said they are expecting to be getting 2623DDU shipments on each of the next four days.

Check your order status and retrieve the serial number. It should be listed now under the description of the notebook. From that webpage, there should be a link on the left for "warranty info". Click on that link and input your system type and your serial number, it will bring back warranty information. Below that, there is a link for parts lookup. click on the parts lookup link and it will list all the details for your system.

Nope, nothing of the sort. Hopefully that will show up soon, as I was under the impression it doesn't show "shipped" until it's actually built

I assumed your notebook shipped from your previous post. Does the status indicate "shipped" or "in process"? If it's shipped, you definitely have a serial number, look carefully for it under the description of your order.

i just called lenovo about my order about my 200794u and he said my shipping date would be at lastest may 26. He said this is because of a lack of supply for the 1 gig sticks of ram. Currently there are 85 people waiting for this system.

so my update of stats:
ordered: april 26th
estimate ship: may 26th
system: 200794u

Unfortunately it is a little frustrating for me at the same time, I ordered the same model from Euclid on the same day -- just got an email from them saying the ship date has slipped to 20/5.

Woohooo!!
Euclid have updated their status with "Shipped" and expected delivery on 5/18 which is only a week later than everyone else... I'm still smilin' though.

Good points on the import duty, taxes, etc...I thought that I had been told they aggregate orders, could be wrong, and of course, it's not like they're getting orders in by ones and twos...

It arrived at about 10:30 this morning. I thought that my old Sony Vaio 16.1" had a great display but this new system has an extremely impressive display .. you've got to see it to believe it. Amazing viewing angle. Keyboard is rather clacky however, not as good as what I recall on the thinkpads.

Oh yes, it would suck, I'm definitely gambling. Costcentral.com was $350 more, has a 15% restocking fee for unopened items, plus I would pay shipping. Costcentral will not take back an opened box thinkpad at all. IBM has 30 days, no questions asked. Also, if costcentral was on backorder back on april 23rd, they should have the notebooks by now. I called today and they didn't come in yet, but you guys got your orders from a week ago. We'll see if my move pays off.
