Whoa, it looks like our Thinkpads are in the same shipment. I ordered on May 30. It's a 2623DDU but without the integrated Verizon WWAN. I also took out the Intel a/b/g adapter and replaced it with Atheros.

I guess I'm one of the flyers too...
When I ordered from the Lenovo site my 2613-EBU (custom, T2500, X1400, 9 cell, 14.1", 1.5GB, 60GB 7200RPM):
Web order on 5/15 with anticipated 1-3 weeks delivery
Confirmation E-mail next day on 5/16 jumped to 4 weeks (classic Lenovo bait & switch) with a due date of 6/12
On 6/13 new E-mail from Lenovo with updated ship date of 7/10. Apparently they did not know until that day that they would miss the ship date by 4 weeks (insert sarcasism)
I'm not very confident in the new ship date. Every Lenovo I've purchased has slipped. What's aggravating is that they don't earmark inventory for your order. For example, I once waited 5 weeks for a T42 that was a buy today ship today (!). Once the machine was done, they had run out of WinXP licenses (how do you do that?). Waited two weeks for new WinXPs to arrive, but by then the machine was gone... and I waited another two weeks for new hardware to be built.
But I thought I would check out the buy today ship today offers this morning for entertainment anyway. Currently shows three T60s, but if you click on the links for more details the machines are shown with an anticiapted delivery of 1-3 weeks. Huh? And that's if you don't try something foolish like adding memory or changing the HDD.
So... I surfed the resellers looking to see what they have in stock. Turns out not much. By my unscientific guestimate I's say 2/3 of the stock were units with Verizon WWAN built in. I am a happy Cingular 3G customer and have read the stories here regarding Verizon's account policies and I don't want any part of that mindset. If you skip over the Verizon machines you are left with a handfull of low-end machines.
The trend plots above are cool, but as far as I'm concerned, Lenovo is still deep in a hole and it will be a LONG time before thier leadtimes get reasonable

Just a little follow up... I talked to customer service today to see what my options were (not much). The hang up is not the fact that I've ordered a custom (9 cell battery, 7200RPM HDD, etc), its the actual "shell", which I presume means the combination of 14" package, T2500 and X1400. That doesn't sound like an esoteric combo to me, but perhaps they don't get many orders for that? I am more inclined to believe as stated above that they are simply way deep in the hole and won't dig out any time soon.

Has anyone else ordered their T60s via the IBM employee purchase program or the friends and family site?
I ordered through EPP and it's odd how they don't provide tracking information for their own employees. I just have to keep calling, it's been about a month and i'm getting anxious.
Has anyone else ordered a 2007-72U? Mine was ordered on the 21st, and still waiting. They said possibly in another 2 weeks. argh.

Mine shipped on the 13th and I recieved it on the 15th, at 11AM.
Thought that was pretty nice.

Hi, is Euclid computer the same as Costcentral? the price of this model on cost central is 1438 and with $200 rebate it should be 1238. The rebate form is not listed with this model but it is eligble. Can you confirm?

No, Euclid is a different company (
www.euclidcomputer.com).
$1438 for the 2623D6U is a fantastic price. Do they charge tax or shipping?

no tax or shipping fee
but the real problem is :"Is costcentral an authorized Lenovo reseller?"

Monday June 5th I placed a simple order for 2 ultrabay slim batteries. I called the order in as the web site is such a mess. The person who took my order said 3 weeks before they would ship. I received an email confirmation after placing the order which had a ship date of 4 weeks out. So in the 15 minutes that elapsed after placing the order it was delayed an additional week. I was not surprized as the system they have IMHO is really poor. In fact sometimes I question how it could be so disorganized and random.
Wednesday June 14th just days later the batteries arrived, and that was with ground shipping????
I ordered a T60P 200794U _from Lenovo by phone Feb 2, 2006_.
The only reason I _include the year_ is because it may not arrive until 2007
Watching the rise and fall of shipping times has been amusing. That is the nicest way I can put it, because it I were to be serious... well you know... I'd be breaking the rules here for profanity...

In the mean time while waiting, I have also communicated with my Lenovo representative regularly. The "reasons" for the delay are numerous. As an employer, I thought I had heard of nearly every excuse possible. But I must say that the Lenovo people are the finest at giving "reasons" that are so far fetched that only the most gullible would accept. The really frustrating part is that I have seen these same models come into inventory at resellers. Why do they get theirs and I'm still waiting for mine? Because of the wonderful Lenovo ordering / mfg / distribution system. I cannot / will not disclose what the rep told me because it's just so unbelievable and simply cannot be fact based.
Week 18!...... still waiting....
You may notice by my signature below that I have a T60. It took a whopping 1.5 days to get this from Euclid Computers online....
The price was lower than Lenovo, there was NO Tax and NO WAIT.... and they are an IBM/Lenovo Authorized Reseller, the only one I'm aware of. I only wish that I would have purchased the T60P when I saw it on their site. Little did I know that Lenovo would generate such chaos.
Week 19 begins Monday as I continue to wait for the T60P from Lenovo, which as this point I view as a Comedy Show....
without the comic...

Archer,
That seems like an outrageously long wait. Perhaps you should write a letter to the CEO?
Well, at least you have your other Thinkpads to keep you occupied in the meantime...

While I have already given that serious consideration, my rep is a good guy that is truly doing his best with the info he is given. I am in communication with his boss as the rep requested. I waited to make this move as I did not want my rep to get heat from above when it's not his problem. He has performed well over the years for me. I know the dymanics of the company are changing and I do want my rep to be in the line of fire through no fault of his own. He not only deserves to keep his job but he should be promoted. In the past with IBM, he was instrumental in getting a lot done on the behalf of my company, that was a win-win for IBM as well.
Thanks for the thought...

For those who are still waiting, I can only say it is worth the wait to get one of these machines. My first projected ship date was 30 days after the order confirmation, it arrived a little over two weeks early.

You can use this
Lenovo Website Link to verify Business Partners/Resellers.
I used it to research
Erie Computer Company/CostCentral.com and they are listed as a
Premier Business Partner.

The rebate comes from Lenovo and has nothing to do with whom you purchase the computer from, so no worries you will be reimbursed.

Copied from the rebate form:
TO RECEIVE YOUR MAIL-IN REBATE:
Purchase: Eligible products during the specified promotional period from an
authorized Lenovo reseller or direct
from Lenovo in the United States.
Here is a link to the
Rebate form.

I meant it did not matter "which" authorized reseller. I thought it goes unsaid, when one purchases a new computer they insure the reseller is authorized...

Agreed.
Being new to the forum and interested in finding online vendors, I noticed EuclidComputers.com and CostCentral.com mentioned in a few topics. Euclid Computers makes it clear that they are an authorized reseller with banners on the site. I could not locate such info on CostCentral's website.
Another poster in this topic asked whether CostCentral was an authorized reseller and I did not see that this question was answered. They had the best delivered price that I could find on the 2623DDU, and the rebate makes it that much sweeter...
