UPDATE: Ship date for the MiniDocks has been pushed to Auguust 28. Rep says backorder is over 2,000 units.

The two mini-docks arrived today 8/23. The configuration is sure a change from the t4X style.

2623-D7U shipped today. To arrive on 8/25. [censored] that is fast.

2613EAU everything standard + the three bonuses and x1400 order placed yesterday. I'll keep updated on shipping info. Hopefully there is no delay because I requested the samsung or Boehydis LCD and not the crap 50ms TMD Lcd.

I ordered a system on August 18th. I got a call from the Lenovo salesman I ordered through this past Saturday - the configuration (T2500 CPU with 15" display) I had ordered was no longer available and was given the option of switching to the 14" display and saving $100 or upgrading to the T2700 CPU and paying $100 more, but losing the Cingular WWAN card. I decided to go with the T2700 CPU as I really want the 15" display and actually didn't want the WWAN card anyway (but there had been no way to get the T2500 CPU without the WWAN card on the Lenovo site and the T2700 CPU had been a $350 premium previously).

It took the salesman several attempts to get everything in order again once the changes were made - our company gets a discount. Since the change had to be made anyway, I also decided to go from 1GB of RAM down to 512MB as it will be cheaper to upgrade to 2GB from a source like NewEgg and I'll want a pair of identical sticks for DDR.

Thanks to a lot of good information online and very helpful posts from this forum I pulled the trigger on a ThinkPad T60 (2613H4U = T2700 chip, 2GB ram, 15" Flex monitor, 7200 HD) along with the 9-cell and the UltraBay battery.

I'm really for this purchase, I can't wait for 8hrs runtimes so I can get my work on. I also found a ton of helpful tips on ThinkWiki for getting Ubuntu running well on the laptop.

The only downside is that I ordered on the 23rd of August (8/23) and have a ship date of Sept 7th (9/7)

estimated ship date 9/1. I went shipped yesterday and tracked it this afternoon at work to see where it was and it said it was delivered! One day shipping even though I picked ground is awesome.

This makes me sad

order date 07.19 shipping date 08.25 recieved 10 days early

you can go to your university computer store or bookstore and go to the computer section and ask how much discount you can get. i've checked with my universtiy and they offer only xx-xx% discount. the part that sucks is that they won't let you get custom order thinkpad. so if you are a perfectionist (or anal) like me and you don't like the idea of having 1.83 ghz but rather 2.0 ghz then you are screwed. personally i'd rather pay that extra 10-15% and get a computer that i like.

I talked to a Lenovo sales rep over the phone, told him I was a student and asked him to find me the best deal, and that was pretty much it!

weird cause i talk to Lenovo and he told me to contact the school. I guess Lenovo is not very much interested in selling a thinkpad to me

For a T60p? THat's not too bad, I just paid $3k almost exactly for a decked out T60 (14x10 monitor, everything else decked out) and a 3 year warrenty extension.

This goes for each of you in this loop of discussion, forum rules prohibit the discussion of Educational and EPP discounts.

I ordered one 2613EAU T60 14.1" SXGA T2400, 1x1GB RAM, 9-cell battery, 100GB HD, and DVD writer (triple play promotion). I asked for 2-day shipping ($50 extra).

Aug 16: Ordered via Lenovo.com
Aug 22: Original estimated shipping date
Aug 22: Delayed until Sept. 1
Aug 26: Received notification that the item shipped via UPS (on a Saturday!)
Aug 28: Received during normal UPS delivery

Ordered a 2623DDU with 2GB of RAM on 8/30.
When I ordered it was listed as "ships in 1-5 days", but after ordering, it shows estimated ship date of 9/15.

For what it's worth... I ordered a 1953D6U from www.cdw.com and got it in 2 days. If I had held out another few days it seems I could have saved another $100. But I needed it "yesterday" to replace my stolen T42, so ordering from Lenovo was not an option--too much risk that the order fullfillment would be delayed. I had good experiences with cdw in the past. Not the cheapest, but a solid, professional shop. I guess I'm a little different from many people on this forum. I don't need the fastest and best. I need something that works *now* and that doesn't cost too much. I did ponder getting a 15" screen for a while, but I decided to stick with the 14.1" screen for weight and general portability. I did consider additional memory, but Newegg is a lot cheaper. I did consider the DVD burner, but when I looked at the pathetic DVD burning speed and instant obsolescence of that component I decided that a full speed external burner is the way to go. I do have a desktop machine for when I need high performance and high resolution, and I can trick that one out for fraction of the cost of tricking out a ThinkPad.

yeah i feel you about the DVD burner. we already get fast CDRW which is the replacement for floppies. DVD seems only good for copying movies (assuming that you wanna watch them from DVD player in your TV). for all the back up and music i think that ultrabay HD will do the job.

Got my T60. One thing tho',(although it is of no consequence to me) but my T60 doesnt have the verizon attenna as advertised on the websites. I thot that came a standard.

I just got my T60 as well, woohoo. Unfortunately it does have a sony battery, I hope it's not the same kind that blows up in Dells and Apples...

ADE, the Verizon antenna is only on some models. Does your model have the Verizon modem built-in?

Heh, UPS shipping is pretty funny. ThinkPad shipped from lenovo the day after I ordered it (labor day), fast! It started in Alaska, traveled to North Korea, and is now in Hong Kong. The time even looks funny on the UPS site because it crossed the world time line! At least I did'nt have to pay for the shipping (it's 4.5 kg).

Ordered my first Thinkpad, a T60p last Thursday night (8/31) and got word that it shipped yesterday (9/6) by UPS Express from Hong Kong. That's quite nice fulfillment time given the long Labor Day weekend right in the middle of it.

All laptops that I've owned before have been Dells, so this is an exciting change for me.

UPS Express from Hong Kong here too, I have my fingers crossed that Hong Kong is actually a lot closer to Arizona than I remember it being...

I was really torn between a few models but fell in love with the flexview screen. I still couldn't quite justify the premium. I was looking at a sony SZ premium on sale for $2000 or an Asus W3J for $1800. Since I didn't know anyone at IBM, EPP pricing was out as well
Then I found a sale on the exact model I wanted...
The 20079EU is a T60p with 2.33Ghz and has the 15" flexview UXGA, 1GB ram (upgraded to 2GB), 100 GB 7200 RPM SATA drive, DVD burner, 9-cell battery, 3 year depot warranty.
The price of the PC was $2369.95 and with the extra RAM, the total came to $2,522.00. Shipping was free.

I placed my order on 9/5/06 and the site stated 8-10 business days until shipment (which is 9/17 to 9/19).

When I check my order confirmation, it has an estimated ship date of 9/22. I've heard horror stories about extended delays and hope mine ships on or before 9/22. I'm getting very antsy.
