Then I found a sale on the exact model I wanted...
The 20079EU is a T60p with 2.33Ghz and has the 15" flexview UXGA, 1GB ram (upgraded to 2GB), 100 GB 7200 RPM SATA drive, DVD burner, 9-cell battery, 3 year depot warranty.
The price of the PC was $2369.95 and with the extra RAM, the total came to $2,522.00. Shipping was free.
I placed my order on 9/5/06 and the site stated 8-10 business days until shipment (which is 9/17 to 9/19).
When I check my order confirmation, it has an estimated ship date of 9/22. I've heard horror stories about extended delays and hope mine ships on or before 9/22. I'm getting very antsy.
Is that the 1600x1200 flexview screen or the 1400x1050?

Ordered from Lenovo

I ordered using the Visa card discount directly from the Lenovo site.
The screen is UXGA (1600x1200). They only had a few computers on sale and they were all T60's. They only had one with Flexview which is the one I ordered.
The sale ends 9/11. To see the laptops, click the link below and then click on "Labor Day Sale"

wow, that's $326 cheaper than the EPP price
I'm still happy with my 2623DDU for $1999 - exact same specs, but a 2.0GHz processer
I'll probably drop in a T7600 when they are available and compatibility is confirmed
my bag was shipped today, laptop still in process

Yes, it absolutely is a T60p. You can confirm in Tab Book. Also, here is the order confirmation exactly copied:
1 SYS.20079E CONFIGURED SYSTEM
09/22/06 $2,522.00 $2,522.00
1 20079EU LENOVO THINKPAD T60P 2007 - CORE DUO T2700 2.33 GHZ - 15" TFT
1 40Y7738 LENOVO THINKPAD MEMORY - 1 GB - SO DIMM 200-PIN - DDR II
[NOTE: My price is $2369.00 + $153 extra 1GB ram]
Finally, there are certain things not available on a regular T60 such as the better graphics card. Lenovo shows this computer at $1000 discount. The other three laptops are only discounted by $100-$300. I'm not exactly sure why the huge discount on this model but I'm happy. I was configuring a regular T60 and was at about the same price.

UPS just dropped off my 2613-ESU. 2 days from Hong Kong; 1 week after ordering. Very pleased!

I got notification that mine shipped yesterday. According to UPS tracking, it should arrive today - not bad considering I chose the free UPS Ground shipping option. Hopefully I'll get home from work before the UPS guy arrives.
What has seemed strange though is that some orders seem to ship out in a matter of a few days while others, like mine, don't ship for a few weeks. I realize that is partly determined by how customized the configuration is and they may build batches of certain configurations, but it still seems weird.

What is your estimated ship date? When I called, the rep said these were flying off the shelves and the ship dates were growing. He may have just been trying to get me to buy though

T60p 2007-93U ordered August 31st under IBM Shareholder's Plan. Lenovo Canada order confirmation said "we anticipate your order will be shipped within 3-4 weeks." Product actually arrived September 8th.

Just place an order for a T60p 2007-86U from Euclid, to be delivered in France. I'll go tomorrow morning for the bank transfer (they take no CC orders internationally), will let you know how long it takes!

I placed the following order:
1 SYS.2613H5 CONFIGURED SYSTEM
1 2613H5U LENOVO THINKPAD T60P 2613 - CORE DUO T2700 2.33 GHZ - 15" TFT
1 40Y6798 CTO TP 9 CELL BATTERY 2.6 AH
2 40Y7738 LENOVO THINKPAD MEMORY - 1 GB - SO DIMM 200-PIN - DDR II
1 41A4068 INTEL PRO/WIRELESS 3945ABG MINI-PCI EXPRESS ADAPTER - NETWORK ADAPTER
1 40Y8496 MICROSOFT WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL - LICENSE AND MEDIA
1 41N8355 LENOVO THINKPAD HARD DRIVE - 100 GB - SATA-150
1 41N8358 CTO 8X MAX DUAL LAYER DVD RECORDABLE ULTRABAY SLIM DRIVE
1 W9SP639 LENOVO THINKPAD 90W AC/DC COMBO ADAPTER - POWER ADAPTER - AC / CAR / AIRPLANE - 90 WATT
1 40Y8725 LENOVO THINKPAD SERIAL ATA HARD DRIVE BAY ADAPTER - STORAGE BAY ADAPTER
I ordered on 28/09/06 and the delivery date keeps on getting pushed back. Currently it stands at 04/10/06 which is a very poor turnaround. Only reason I'm sticking with the order is due to the IBM brand name, but if the delivery gets pushed back anymore I will have to go for my second option which was a Mac Book Pro.

How do you figure that? The dates are:
September 28, 2006 and October 4, 2006 - assuming the poster is posting them in a consistent format. For the first date, no other interpretation makes any sense as 28 only makes sense as a day and the year 2009 is a ways off. It's quite an accomplishment to order something 16 days in the future

First time post.
got the thinkpad bug a couple of days ago, decided jump on the band wagon, ordered from pagecomputers.com
T60P 2623DDU
T2500, 15" flexview UXGA, 1gig memory, I have another gig that I'll pop in. FireGL v5200, 7200 hdd, DVD burner. ordered it yesterday, shipped today, should be here monday. total including shipping was $2,288. I probably would have gotten a better deal if I had ordered from lenovo directly a couple of weeks ago when they were having some sort of sale, but I just heard too many horror stories about shipping being pushed back again and again. But for what I paid, I don't think its a great deal but just a fair deal. What do you think? Not a student or know anyone that work at lenovo so any kind of discount would be out.
MODERATOR EDIT: To any one attempting to answer this question, please do not post any information on Student or Employee discounts, per forum rules.

Another first-time post here - I've had a T22 for most of the year and while it's fine at browsing the Internet and Microsoft Office work, it wasn't really cutting it when it came to development. The max of 512MB of RAM really hurt.
So, I went for an academic discount on a T60 2008C3U:
1.83GHz Core Duo, 512MB RAM, SXGA 14" LCD, 64MB GPU, CD-RW/DVD-ROM, WLAN and 3-year onsite warranty for $x,xxx.00. I'm probably going to get another 1GB of RAM.

I shopped around quite a bit and I think you got an excellent deal. The Labor day sale only had 1 laptop available with the Flexview screen. It is identical to the one you got except it has a 2.33 ghz processor instead of 2 ghz. It was also $150 more. This was supposedly a $1000 discount but that is the inflated Lenovo prices. Also, my ship date is supposedly 9/22 and has not changed. Others ordered from the same exact sale a day or two after me and theirs shipped days later. I have no explanation for this. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that it will indeed ship on time. Congrats on your purchase. Can't wait to get mine.

thanks. I don't think 2.33 will make a lot of difference to me vs. the 2.0 which is what I have now and its more than enough to do the job that I want. yeah, $1000 seems a lot but when they inflat the price, it isn't true $1000 off. shipping is THE weirdest thing when it comes to lenovo, some will get shipped the next day while others will get delayed for weeks. congrats on your purchase as well, sounds like a killer laptop.

Ordered T60P on 9/6
Posted: Sun Sep 17, 2006 8:17 pm
by dgsowers
My T60P (ordered 9/6) should be delivered 9/18 or 9/19 at the latest. My estimated delivery date was set as 9/20. It shipped 9/15 and the status has alternated between "In Transit" and "Exception" all weekend. Saturday morning it said I would receive it that day on the 16th. UPS does not deliver residential in my area on a Saturday, so something was wrong. Then Saturday night it said delivery on Tuesday the 19th.
None of the scans indicate it has even arrived in the US. I never realized how much the tracking information bounces back and forth showing a status that just gets me all worried that it will never show up. The "Exception" one says that the receiver has requested the box be held at customs for more information. Called UPS and they said, that just means someone will call you to tell you it's coming. I've never received an international shipment before...this just seems weird. Now it gives me no delivery date! I'm soooo confused.

Hi guys and gals ~ after seeing all the great feedback on the web, including this forum, on thinkpads I finally pushed myself and bought one.
I ordered a T60 (2623D6U) last Saturday from visaperks.ca.
I phoned Lenovo two days ago asking for the status of my order. The person said they're out of stock and it's going to take 3 weeks to ship my unit
Is there a way to check my order status online instead of having to phone lenovo? I know on the U.S. site you can check the status in My Account > Order Status/History, but that's not there on the Canadian website. And I just can't stop thinking about my thinkpad

I ordered exactly the same model from IBM Certified Used website on 09/19, as they were running a 15% discount on it. I hope it turns out to be a good one. Any comments/experience from people who have bought a certified used TP? This is my first ever purchase of an IBM Thinkpad.
