Thanks rleo! Yes, I am excited as a little kid on Christmas Day!

The rep told me 11/10 and that same day it was shipped! I was surprised it is scheduled for Monday, but for some reason they bumped the shipment up to Express...I am glad you still like yours and have had no problems. I will give a report as soon as I receive it and try it out. Take care, my friend.

Ordered Thinkpad T60 (1953-EUU) on Fri 11/3. Shipping date is 11/29. With Lenovo's sale on memory, I ordered 2GB of it for my machine which is the one item in my order just before submitting it online said it would it take 3-4 weeks. All other customizations were noted as 8-10 days. With a five year old 256MB memory laptop (not Thinkpad), looking forward to a faster machine. As not in very urgent need of a replacement machine, I'll be happy if it shows up sometime during the holidays.

Oh spurkza, how can you not have any excitement, ha! It may come faster; I've found their dates to be very flexible, at best. It will make a nice Christmas present, enjoy!

just "stumbled" onto this forum and got my T60p on 27 Oct, the packaging said Manufactured on: 19 Oct so that's awfully fast from China to Amsterdam
It's an
2007-8DG aka UT08DNI
T60p,
Intel Core Duo processor T2700
2.33 GHz
ATI Mobility FireGL V5200
SXGA+ (1400x1050)
2GB,
100GB SATA
DVD-R
pretty cool and light machine, happy with the performance and screen, fingerprint seems to react a little slow...
massive amount of gadgets loaded when it is booted, already eats more then 499 MB of RAM without any applications loaded (just afraid to turn some vital stuff off...

)

Michael, welcome to the forum and to the Thinkpad family and enjoy your new lappy. I'd recomend you not to install PC Doctor 5, until a fix be posted by Lenovo in its update System, please refer to other posts on the subject. Good luck.

I find that the fingerprint speed is slow if you don't do a very good swipe, but if you do a good one it's fast (faster than typing in a password). Try redoing the fingerprint thing and seeing if that makes it faster.

I have just ordered my new T60 200762U...well in fact it was yesterday night. I called IBM err lenovo this morning to be sure it has been orderd, I used the internet to order.
and yes, the lady I had on the phone told me it was ordered, and that it was actually already scheduled for delivery today. So she told me it should be there by Monday!!!
By the way just wanted to mention that if you want a good deal...try to google

YEAH ! I
I got my T60 this morning, at 8:30 AM
Don't ask me why but crazy ups sent it first to IL, then to AK before it comes back to IL, where I live. That's what happens when you smoke the grass !
Anyway, I am overjoyed ! Nice weekend ahead !

2613-HPU, made to order
Ordered: 10/29
Shipped: 11/8
Received: 11/10
No Vista coupon, no "vista-ready" sticker. WTF?
Also, to those who wonder why the package goes to AK after it arrives in the Eastern US, it doesn't! UPS reports local time, not standardized time.

Coming back to the forum... Well zouav nice you received the laptop, surely you will have a busy weekend with such a nice piece of equipment you received.
As to the Vista upgrade be sure to get a serial exchange number to upgrade ... don't know where it could be found but they are asking for it in the windows upgrade form...

I ordered my T60 around the 21st of October. My unit has 2GB RAM, a 100GB 7200rpm HDD, and the T7200 chip, with an ATi X1400 and 15" IPS screen. I also ordered an UltraBay battery, an AC/DC combo adapter, and extra TrackPoint caps. (I received the extra caps around a week or two ago, which is kind of funny.)
They said it would ship on the 16th. I chose express shipping, but since I'm going to be out of town from the 16th to the 20th, I would only have been able to get it on the 21st.
However... I just received confirmation that they shipped it today! I should be receiving it tomorrow some time. Kick [censored]!
Interestingly, they're shipping two packages... I think one of them contains the extra battery and adapter. (I called Lenovo to make sure I wasn't receiving somebody's laptop by mistake.)

ETA shipping: nov 20
A weird thing is that it seems there is something else linked to my main t60 package.. the guy I had on the phone could not tell.... if they can't who can?!!!
can't wait to see my tp t60

It's my first ThinkPad. I'm changing over from a Dell Latitude D610... it's a whole new experience.
And it's so
swift...

As soon as the special offer came in at Lenovo yesterday - it pushed me over the edge! I ordered my first ever ThinkPad last night.
Its my second laptop in 2 weeks! I am writing this from a Dell that I bought last week but was not overly impressed with the build quality. I guess I could have lived with it but then I came across some opinions (inc. this site) from ThinkPad owners saying how super-fantastic-the-beezneez this laptop was!
The more I read the more I wanted one! So I have taken the plunge! I guess the guys on this forum should get some commission from Lenovo!!
As you guys helped me get into this (!) I now asking you help me out a little more by advising me:
a.If there is anyway I can get Lenovo to
ship my laptop earlier??! It will be a very long wait otherwise (est.12/1). (I opted for 512ram as the sales rep said 1Gb would delay it a further 2 weeks!).
b.I need to return my current laptop to Dell (its only 7days old) without them charging me the
Dell restocking fee (15%)??!!! Any ideas on how I can avoid this oh-so-much charge!??
The machine I have ordered is:
ThinkPad T60
Duo 2 Core T7200 (2GHz, 4MB L2)
512Mb RAM
14.1" SXGA+ TFT (1400x1050)
64Mb ATI Mobility Radeon X1400
80GB HD
8x Max Dual Layer DVD Ultrabay Slim
Hope it's as good as you all say it is!! Can't wait to see...
(not too fond of the Fn and Ctrl kep placement!)

Ugh, 512mb is going to be hurting. I would order a 1gb stick from crucial.com as you wait.
If you have some legit reason (for instance, I am flying to ATL, then to Charlotte, then to DC, over the span of one week, so I really wanted my thinkpad for the trip), e-mail the rep and tell him. MIne said he would talk to the supply team, and the next day it shipped (it might have helped that I was buying a pre-configured unit through EPP).\
Also, you said 64mb x1400. Which is it? It's either 64mb x1300 or 128mb x1400.
I didn't like the Fn Ctrl swap at first, but now after a week I'm used to it.

Sorry my bad - its the 64mb x1300.
Your T60 a week old? Has it lived up to its reputation?
Also can you do me a favour and check if the power supply range on the power adapter is between 100-240v?? The rep said he did not think so - but according to my research it should be. (Else I will be in trouble when I get back to the UK!!)
Thanks!

It is amazing how getting a ThinkPad can be such an exciting experience, especially now that I am an older "geek"...mine came last Monday, and I was so excited I didn't even open it for a couple hours...just savoring the moment, ha! This is my first laptop and after using it I don't know how I waited so long...I'm just glad I got the T60 and not the Dell or Sony I was thinking about. ENJOY!

Dell people (~80% of my college) are seeing my thinkpad (only one) and all saying "Wow, my next laptop will be a Thinkpad"

If you're lucky enough to not be at a college that forces McAffee on you, use the Norton. That's what Army civil service uses.
