hi there,
i'm new in ibm/lenovo's world. well, i hope to become a user member.
i ordered and payed on line (confirmed) a T60 14' 2GHz 1Go 100Go5400rpm XPPro on the 1st of December 2006.
it was supposed to be shipped on the 23rd of December, just for santa close to bring it.
since that period, it has been delayed 3 times! the latest mail i got from lenovo (today) is warning me that an other 30 days might be necessary.
i called the websale department and got in touch with a manager twice this week. she was supposed to call back. she never did.
when i spoke to her for the second time, she said no part was missing and that she had no idea why the process was delayed, that she was going to find out and call back. never did! again.
i could ask them to refund me and place a new order except that on december the 1st 2006, the config I wanted was 1550$ and is now about 400$ more. could it be the trick? i'd be desapointed.
here's the story. any advice will help.
thank you in advance!

The 30 day email, is just what they send out when the system notices it is going to miss a ship date.
I had this happen on a system that I ordered (although mine did have a shortage of parts). See if you can get them to transfer you to the customer service department to have your order placed on the priority fulfillment list. Additionally, you can usually get them to offer you a 10% discount for staying with the order.
If you order a new one, the same thing may happen, and it most likely won't arrive any faster. So my suggestion is this:
1) Keep bugging sales until they transfer you to customer service and they put you on the priority list.
or
2) Cancel the order and get a system from a different vendor.
I will say that I ended up waiting 2 months for mine to be in my hands. It was, overall worth the wait, as like you, I ordered it while it was on sale and I couldn't get a comparable equipped laptop for the same price (at least not one with the same quality).

ok, welcome to thinkpads.com community.
Try to send the mails (BCC) to the executive management people in Lenovo/IBM --> Your country.
Don't place a new order. Wait and see how the managemnet people reply.
Thank you for your replies
The new estimated shipping date for my T60 is February the 5th (ordered December the 1st).
I would like to send my case to the executive management people to see if they feel like giving me any kind of compensation (?)).
Do you know how I can reach them?
Thanks again.
I hope to write to you soon on my T60!

I only got to them by complaining to my sales rep when multiple dates (that I was verbally told) were missed. I would suggest that when you speak to your sales rep, that you just say that this is rediculous that you have been waiting so long for your laptop, and what to speak to someone who can help you resolve this.ufsbd wrote:Thank you for your replies

Ordering Saga
OK - here we go:
2/7 - Ordered
T60p T7400
14.1" SXGA+
100GB 7200 HD
2GB Ram
Advanced Mini Dock
6Cell
9Cell power package (charger, adapter)
Monitor stand
Est. ship date 2/21
2/8 - Receive email from Lenovo Credit Card Services saying my credit card info does not match the order. Instructed to call or order may be canceled! I don't know what this is about, since I specifically called my credit card company before placing the order to have them list my office address on the account. No big deal though, until . . .
2/8 - six attempts to call Lenovo Credit Card Services at the number they provided are unsuccessful. Each time I call I get put on hold for approx. 15 minutes after which I am transferred to a prompt which asks that I leave a contact number. I get put into a voicemail system which then tells me the mailbox is full and I should call back later.
2/8 - Finally disgusted I call the sales department and quickly get a friendly and sympathetic voice. He says this happens all the time with credit cards, updates my information and says all is well. When asked about manufacturing delays, he mentions (ominously) that Chinese New Year is coming up.
Not a good start to my first Lenovo experience.

I ordered my t60 Feb. 4 and it said expected shipping date Feb. 19, now that the 18th and the Chinese New Year is here it might be delayed for some time more. I was hoping to get lucky and have it shipped before the 18th. I go on vacation the first full week in March I hope it will be here before then. I can only sit with my fingers crossed a while longer.

I finally made the decision to order the 15" T60p over the 14" T60p, mainly because of the larger screen size and the flexview option. Had the T60p 15.4 widescreen ordered but cancelled it in favor of the higher 2.33GHz processor, 15.0 SXGA+ Flexview Display and ATI Fire GL V5250 256MB.
Ordered: 02/15/2007
Estimated Delivery: 03/14/2007
Shipped Date: 02/22/2007
Revised Delivery Date: 02/26/2007
o T60p 2613CT
o T7600 Intel Core 2 Duo 2.33GHz
o 15.0 SXGA+ TFT Flexview Display
o ATI Fire GL V5250 256MB
o 2GB DDR2, 667MHz
o 100GB Hard Disk, 7200rpm
o DVD-R 8x Max Dual Layer
o IBM Wireless A/B/G Network
o Bluetooth
o Fingerprint Reader
o WinXP Pro
o 6 cell Li-Ion Battery
o 9 cell Li-Ion Battery with Carger and AC Adapter
Now thinking of ordering the advanced docking station along an external keyboard and mouse.

8742-4BU w/ Ultrabay SATA adapter.
C2D 2.0ghz
1gb RAM
100gb 7200rpm
DVD+-DL
x1400 128mb
15.4" WSXGA+
3945 ABG (I wish I could have found a setup that had what I wanted + 802.11ABGN)
BT
9 cell
3 year next business day at home warranty
And, I have an advanced dock to sit it on once it gets here (found a new open box for $175 shipped, I don't need the extra stuff it gives me, but for the same price as an advanced mini dock, I had to jump on it.)
Out the door from Lenove: 2080.
+ 100gb 7200rpm hdd from Brent: $103
+ 1gb RAM from Newegg: $80 (-$25 gift certificate from Christmas)
+ Advanced dock: $175
This is an expensive upgrade from my T43, but I could really use the extra horsepower a Core 2 Duo & real estate a widescreen would give me.
Purchase date: 2/7/07
Estimated shipping date: 2/21/07
Actual shipping date: 2/17/07
Estimated arrival date (assuming customs doesn't screw with it and no bad storms cause UPS to delay): 2/22/07
