You guys may already know this, but I had to call IBM's ESS support to figure this one out today: You have to switch SATA in the BIOS to Compatibility Mode before you can install Windows XP or use a T4x image on a T60. After installed you then switch back to the AHCI mode.

Are there any other tricks from migrating from a T4x image?
I was thinking there may be something needed to support dual core, i.e. a different version of ntoskrnl.

You may also need to perform the steps listed in Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 314082: "You receive a Stop 0x0000007B error after you move the Windows XP system disk to another computer."
We go through this on every image we create. The idea is that you can then load the image onto just about any hardware and boot up without the dreaded 0x7b blue screen.

using that technique, could I use a T43 image in the T60? that would be spectacular.

I wouldn't try to use a T4x image on a T60. In general, switching drive images between different platforms (mainly the different motherboard/chipset side of it) generally only causes problems. You essentially have to clear out all the previous gen drivers and install the new ones, which is problematic at best.
Just setup a new image John

XP will require that the HAL be reloaded anyway, so what's the harm in moving the T4x image over?
