Does Anyone Have the 14.1" SXGA+ Screen? Opinions?

For those people who have already received their T60s, does anyone have one with the 14.1" SXGA+ screen? Just wondering how it is, how it compares to the same screen in the T43? Especially the new LCD from TMD, if anyone received that in their T60.

I had ordered a 14.1" with SXGA+ but it is NOT delivered yet. I watched a 14.1" SXGA+ on the CeBit and I think the display is great!

I didn't understand the second post but I'll second donking's request for opinions on the new TMD 14.1" SXGA+ panels, assuming we even see any.
on the T4x, it seems that 80% ship with Samsung, 20% ship with Hydis. that's my own rough estimate, but probably not far off.

Compared to my old X22, the 14.1" SXGA+ screen of T60 is brighter. Vewing angle is not good since it is not flexview. I am using the highest resolution and it is good. I don't know which screen I have. If you can tell me how to check the producer without taking the computer apart, I can check it for you.

I would not call Hydis a "wrong" part by any means. the vast majority of users prefer Hydis panels to Samsung panels.
the keyboard is easy to change, and it isn't yet known if there are differences among the batteries on the t60 (Sony was a slightly tighter fit on the T4x, but that doesn't apply here since those batteries don't fit the T60).
consider youselves lucky to have Hydis panels!

Dude, slippery slope. If you're happy with your machine (as it seems like you *really* are), why bother?
All that could happen given that question, is that someone's going to say, "Meh, you could've got a better <insert component here>", and you're not going to be able to see your machine the same way again.
But then again, there's the chance that people are all going to chime in on how great that particular set is, and you could gloat. But how often does that happen?

My keyboard is 39T0958 NMB.
Hydis screen
Sanyo 9 cell battery
Sony 3 cell battery
I didn't try the 6 cell battery yet.
The keyboard feels good but two or three button feel different from the others. I don't know how to describe my feeling. It feels like there are two levels on the bottom of the button. It feels the same as other buttons when you press it to the first level. Then when you press it from the first level to the second level, the resistence is a little bit bigger. It feels like it need to be oiled and sounds like walking on the snow. Is it a problem?

Certainly sounds like a defect. That doesn't sound like anything that I've experienced in a T4x NMB keyboard. I've used four of them and they were all perfect once I seated the keyboard bed correctly.
What keys, specifically, exhibit this behavior?

Home, end, windows and a few of the Fx keys. I think it is the friction of the keys and the frame.

I don't have a windows key on my keyboard

but those keys on my kb feel completely normal. If my T60 arrives tomorrow and has an NMB installed (we need a praying emoticon) I'll check it out and report back.

darranf - on the order status page, you should see the serial number, so you can see what parts you'll be getting before you even receive the system.

My 2007-63U is coming with a 14.1" SXGA+ Hydis screen, Alps keyboard, and Sanyo 6 cell battery. I'll post impressions next week after it arrives.

Great tip - thanks!
Hydis, Sanyo and Alps.
Hopefully, since the T60 has a new battery design, the Sanyo will fit tight. I never had a problem with performance -- just fit.
I don't mind calling to get an NMB keyboard. This will let me compare the two. The Alps keyboards that have come out recenetly are a big improvement on the original, even though they still don't match my typing style as much as NMB.

I guess the serial # only shows up when the laptop is close to completion. Good tip though.

My 2007-83U is coming with Hydis screen, ALPS keyboard and Sanyo 9 cell battery. Will report once it is in my hands.
Also, while ordering it didn't click in my mind that the 9 cell battery portrudes out in the back. Now I have mixed feelings about it. Do you guys find it bad?

I just see manufacturing and FRU part #s. How are you determining the OEM names?

My T60 shipped yesterday, at long last!
It has the Hydis screen and Chicony keyboard. Was really hoping I'd get the TMD screen, but can live with Hydis. Definitely disappointed with Chicony keyboard and will be replacing that.
Strangely, the parts look up gives the correct FRU# for the T2500 processor, but describes the processor as a Pentium M T1500. I assume that's an incorrectly cut and paste piece of information or typo or something like that.

The 14" Hydis screen overall sucks! It's just like the IDTech screen that shipped with the T42's (never had the T43). I went through 6 laptops just to be sure I had a Samsung on the T42. The Samsung is much more vibrant. The Hydis screen is brighter (so, was the IDTech) but the colors are washed out and there's a blue push.
I have a feeling that this T60p is going back to Lenovo and I'm going to keep the T42. It's a shame.
Oh, I have some other gripes about the Lenovo take over. What the heck happened to the trackpad. It's half the size of the T42s. Also, did it the thinkpad get thicker? it's close to 1 1/2" in thickness. If it weren't for dual core, I would've never bought it.

are you sure its thicker? i know it doe snot have the thinning design of the T4x, but in all the pictures i have seen the actual height is exactly the same...

My gf has control of my T42 right now. I'll compare side by side later tonight.
The LCD is a little better now that I've made some adjustments to the gamma and contrast. Decreased gamma to 0.8 and upped contrast to 110. Not too shabby, but can't compare to my little Fujitsu P7010.
Oh, this ALPS keyboard has got to go. Gotta get a Thailand made keyboard now. The acoustics of the Hitachi 100GB 7200RPM is killing me. Other than that there are no other complaints.
Kybd: Needs the NMB one
HD: Needs acoustic control
Battery: Horrible. Around 5hours. I could've sworn my T42 is way better. Also the Sanyno has a max capacity of 84 watts, my prior 9-cell sony had 91 watts. Will have to switch it with a Panasonic 9-cell
All of the above are ok. I can dismiss them or get them fixed.
BUT, the thickness (subjectively it's thicker) is something I'm not liking. and the LCD, I'm still uncertain about. The brightness is there, but definitely needs color correction.

That is interesting because the majority of users posting on these forums far prefer the Hydis over the Samsung 14.1" SXGA+ panels (a few 14" T42's also shipped with Hydis LCD's as well).
I took some shots comparing the Samsung to the Hydis, though it's very hard to tell from a picture:
