T60 vs. T43 with x300 or fireGL

I've got the T43 but have the opportunity to buy a new computer. I'm getting a 15" like my current T43.

I really like the T43 - the build, keyboard, and flex-view.

However, with the T60 being launched in Denmark hopefully next month, I'm considering to wait.

My use is 90% writing and reading articles etc. and 5% counter strike.

1. How much better is the fireGL graphics card than the x300 for playing CS?

2. Will the 1600*1200 be much smaller text than the 1450*1050 which I'm using now and which I'm satisfied with.

3. Will the T60 be a better option for me? I think the price of the pricy T43 is about the same as for the T60.

4. The only annoyance with my current machine is the noise of the fan of the T43. Is the noise reduced on the T60 compared to the T43?[/list]

Thanks

Rex

My suggestion is :"Do not waste money on it."
This is my experience, before you do not have T60, you might be very eager to own one, but after you have it, you will just find it is a "just so so" machine. I think the old T4x thinkpad is the best one, true IBM machine.

Suggest you save your money for Windows-Vista coming out around end of this year...

At least your new Thinkpad should have Factory Restore CD's that preinstalls Win-Vista on it!

Much less work on tweaking for you...

thanks, guys - but I will need to change my machine. The question is whether I should get the T60 and wait an extra month, go with a T43p or pick the T43 which I currently use...

I believe in upgrading. If you have the opportunity to do so, wait for the T60.

I've been going through the same scenario. The one thing that may put me into the T60 is that it seems to be feasible to dual-boot Windows and OS-X. I would love to do that since I have a Windows desktop and my wife has an iMac.
